Shocking video shows the moment a suspect being booked into a London jail suddenly whips out a hidden 128-year-old revolver — repeatedly opening fire and killing a veteran cop.
The harrowing footage from September 2020 was released Friday after Louis De Zoysa, 25, was found guilty of murdering Sgt. Matt Ratana, 54, who was just three months shy of retiring after nearly 30 years with London’s Metropolitan Police.
It starts with De Zoysa handcuffed in a chair in Croydon Custody Center, flanked by two other officers after being busted for possessing drugs and bullets.
“My name’s Matt — I’m the custody officer, right, I’m in charge,” Ratana informs him calmly after walking up, before asking him to “stand up” to be searched.
After a brief pause, De Zoysa gets to his feet — and immediately whips out an antique Colt .41, twisting his ‘cuffed hands to fire it in front of him.

I imagine London Mayor Sadiq Khan will be telling the cop’s family “this is one of the prices you pay for living in a world-class city.”
Thankfully there are super strict gun laws in the UK. Obviously stricter ones are needed.
They must have been lackadaisical in procedure not making sure he was disarmed. This will become part of a training video for future police officers.

Very lax procedures obviously because since guns are illegal surely no one would ever break the law having one. Obviously that type if assumption got this officer killed much is the pity. On the US all arrested are assumed armed, may change in London now.
First, I feel for the cop’s family. But, the thug was brought into the jail for possession of BULLETS! Bullets are no good without the gun. So where was the gun? Someone got a good man killed.

I’m sure the cops assumed he had no gun. After, all England has strict gun control laws. No need to frisk someone.
Ammo, if properly stored, can last over a hundred years.

The man apparently tried to commit murder-suicide but the suicide part failed. Now he's paralyzed and more brain damaged than he already was.
There's a reason our wise ancestors had punishments designed to deter others.

They brought the guy in for bullets, but did a piss poor job of looking for the gun.

This obviously didn’t happen. Impossible. Misinformation. Guns are not allowed in the UK, therefore, this story has to be completely fabricated.

That’s forethought right there. Wow. And this guy closed one of the only loopholes in existence for the average citizen to defend oneself (”obsolete caliber”). Great.
