HARRISBURGH, Pa., Friday, June 19.
Governor CURTIN visited Camp Curtin to-day, and was received with a warm and enthusiastic welcome.
The soldiers followed him in vast crowds as he drove around the camp, vainly endeavoring to find the Commandant.
At the unanimous importuning of the Volunteers he addressed them.
He spoke as follows:
"He had called to see their officers. He was sorry that they were not present attending to their duties as they should be. However, the men were here, and he would inform them of what he intended to have communicated to the officers in writing. He had some credit with the volunteers, and the reason was, that he had never broken faith with them. He was sorry there was some dissatisfaction about this call. He would tell the troops that they were called out only while this emergency lasted, and when that was over they would be returned to their homes. He was to be the judge when that emergency was over. Our soil has been invaded and we want to drive the invaders from it. You are called for this emergency and no longer.
To be sure the troops would be mustered into the United States service, but it was necessary to do this to secure equipments and pay from the General Government. It would be the same if he had called them out as militia, only they would be mustered for pay to the State Government. If I have kept faith heretofore with volunteers, you can trust my promise now. Those who come into camp and sow dissensions are both cowards and traitors. [Cities of "That's so."] Gov. SEYMOUR telegraphed last night that New-York had 12,000 men for Pennsylvania. [Loud cheers for New-York.] The highest devotion of our manhood is called upon at this hour.
