Probably wonā€™t happen. Chinese leaders are realists. Western leaders are idiotic dreamers.

ā€œWhat? Your EVs arenā€™t performing up to expectations? We must save the Erf! So hereā€™s another $1 billion in tax credits to get the job done.ā€

A new EV plant is being built in central Indiana. Major construction, even so far as to run a new natural gas pipeline from the hub over 20-30 miles away, tearing up the landscape to do it. Every time I pass by, I know that in under a few years time the plant will be totally abandoned and millions of dollars will have been wasted on it.

A few people tried to tell them they were throwing away their money. In a few years time I'm those same people be able to point their fingers in their faces and say, "see we told you so."

We went to China in 2018 to visit my wifeā€™s family. On the outskirts of Beijing, there was a large lot, Iā€™m guessing around 40 acres, that was filled with EV busses. There was row after row of them, Iā€™m guessing that there was several hundreds of them. There was a road that cut through the property that we were able walk through it. There was several large piles of electric bicycles and charging stations that were piled about 20ā€™ high. It was basically a large scrapyard full of EVā€™s. There was also stacks of cars that were about five high. They didnā€™t look very old.

I often point out that the USSR did the same thing. Massive farm tractor factories, with massive fields of rusting tractors right outside the factory. Every day workers would continue with their ‘job’ of tractor production.

Market? Demand? Need?

C’mon, Man!

This should be shown in the schools instead of the WEF propaganda videos thatā€™s currently being pushed.

I’d guess this is coming about the time these things start hitting the used car lots. Who in their right mind would want one of these things if it needs a battery, & that is a possibility if it has any miles(or years) on it. Maybe somebody could develop an ICE conversion for one of the EVs. That would be a switch and an expensive one too.

The switch from EV to ICE will cost double or triple of a new ICE car. The car structures are radically different to support batteries which are not in same location as the ICE engine. GM’s new design positions batteries over a large rectangular shape under the passenger compartment.

1957 Ford Edsel with the toilet seat grill was most famous flop.

Tesla cars in China are too expensive for 99% of the people there. They are too expensive for most here in the USA. Get rid of the subsidies from the gov’ts and electric cars would disappear. Tesla makes a fortune selling green credits to others.

The Edsel was, indeed, a major flop. However, there weren’t piles and piles of them that had to be scrapped. All were simply sold, though likely at a less than the desired price. The Edsel was a quite usable car. It just looked bad.

Ironically, the Edsel nose was resurrected for some late 60s Pontiacs, but not as ugly. Case in point...
