Ask Asian children who their harshest critics are, and you will invariably get some answer involving mom, dad, or both.
Bad news for Asian-Americans across the United States — they won’t be finding much reprieve from school administrators and staff at the university level.
Look no further than the curious case of 18-year-old Jon Wang, a Florida native sporting some impressive academic marks.
According to Fox News, Wang scored a sterling 1590 out of 1600 on his SAT exam (many Asian parents would probably be mad about him being 10 points short of a perfect score) and earned an eye-popping 4.65 high school GPA, thanks to advanced classes that enable students to achieve GPAs higher than the 4.0 associated with straight A’s.
Given those marks, and the fact that Wang doesn’t appear to have any character or criminal issues, you would think one of the admissions departments at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, California Institute of Technology, Princeton, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon University or the University of California, Berkeley, would give Wang the time of day.
You would think wrong.
Wang told Fox that he was rejected by all of them.
So, what gives? What possible explanation could be provided that would explain why Wang couldn’t make the cut?
Wang has one idea why — and it’s one that he was warned about when he began the application process.
In short, Wang blames the paradoxically named “affirmative action” that is neither affirming nor helpful for his issues.
Wang told Fox that when he began applying for school, his friends and counselors warned that “it’s tougher to get in, especially as an Asian-American.”
Apparently, the color of Wang’s skin color and ethnic background (his parents are both first-generation Chinese immigrants) matters to schools — and not in the “good” way that skin color and ethnicity usually...

Universities (especially the larger ones) should handling student loans instead of the government and thus they will only admit qualified students that can eventually pay back the money.
He will do fine. He is accepted at my own “elite” university, Georgia Institute of Technology. Sure was a fine education for me. Ga. Tech EE ‘64.
Add “white male” to that!!
My kids have been academically and athletically blessed, but my youngest has a similar story to this!
A freakin” crime! But DEI bullsh!t will give affirmative action admittance to many who DO NOT DESERVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Certain colors and “gender” persuasions are put near the top!
There should be some sort of system to anonymize names during the admission process. LW school administrators shouldn’t get access to this data until maybe after a student accepts and enrolls.
He should have identified as another race or an ‘it’ gender.
I wonder if he cut off his d!ck would he have gained admission
I agree. Admission selections should be made without knowledge of the candidate’s race or sex, but only on the candidate’s record of academic, extracurricular, and personal accomplishments.
A solution is to create new colleges that ONLY accept on merit - in time they’ll become the ‘elite’ schools of the future.
That’s not a solution that’s THE solution. Get together and go to schools that want you.
He left out applying to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, which can hold its head up with any of the listed colleges. I have personal knowledge that they’ll accept a short Jew with high scores, so second-generation Asian-Americans probably have a better chance there.
I don’t understand this. Quineesha got right in...
There are a lot of colleges out there. They just don’t have the name recognition the Ivy League institutions have, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have excellent instructors and courses. Some of them aren’t even “woke”.
People want top engineers to build their bridges, buildings and airliners. They want their doctors to know their biology, anatomy and human ailments.
This affirmative action nonsense assumes ANYBODY can be smart enough to do all the intellectually demanding work.
Nobody wants to be riding inside an airliner designed by a moron.
Nobody wants a doctor to take out the wrong kidney because he/she was at the bottom of the medical class and barely passed tough classes.
Leaving meritocracy behind for race quotas is the end of any society not promoting the best and brightest.
Hey, maybe he will got to China, get his PHD in Engineering and go to work for their military and develop a weapon system that destroys the entire US Military’s air defense system. But what the Hell. The people that got his US scholarships will probably get degrees in gender studies or degrees in racial equity become heads of DEI offices at their universities.
Colleges violate the Constitution when they reject people because of their ethnicity.
The country has become a place where merit is punished and failure rewarded.
Affirmative action and reparations are proof of that.
Simple solution…..
Reapply. Say that he’s a 1/3 black, 1/3 Eskimo, 1/3 Indian tribe of his choice, one legged, lesbian.
They cannot deny him.
no it isn’t, their EE&CIS programs are some of the best in the world. where do you think all the SV talent comes from?
“Soon the ‘Elite Universities’ will start losing their ‘elite’ status because so many of their graduates will be duds.”Soon the ‘Elite Universities’ will start losing their ‘elite’ status because so many of their graduates will be duds.”
Already happening, according to John McWhorter. These schools thrive on foreign students paying top dollar. They will be in a big hurt when that dries up.
Should have lied and said he was a Teen on his application
Hey Jon, apply to Hillsdale. With your background, you’ll have no trouble getting in. You will get a solid liberal arts education and you won’t be brainwashed.
