My 4:
1. Buy a firearm.
2. Learn to shoot it proficiently.
3. Buy ammo.
4. Train often and learn the 21 foot rule.

Gun control is being able to hit center mass.

Carry when out and make sure your neighbors are armed and ready and willing to use them.

All looks pretty legit to me. Good neighborhoods look and act like good neighborhoods. People know each other, communicate, keep the neighborhood up, and know what’s going on. That’s really always been the difference between a good neighborhood and a bad neighborhood. Do people care or do they hide?

While some studies have shown these programs to be effective in reducing the crime rate, research also shows that monitoring a neighborhood leads to the unjustified suspicion and harassment of Black people, due to deeply held biases.

Would that be anything like the poor, unsuspecting white folks who make a wrong turn and end up in a black neighborhood where they pay for their mistake with their lives?

Item #1: Have standby weapons in every room of both the main house and any remote go-to locations...

Item #2: Arm and train every member of the family, immediate or extended, in the effective use of firearms...

Item #3: Inform absolutely no one outside the family of your preparations...

Item #4 (Optional): Have a secure plot of land, excavating, and resurfacing tools close at hand for SSS situations...

I like your post, but I carry when in. I meet you at my mailbox, front door, or garage, I am armed. My neighbors are encouraged to do the same. I don’t ask them when they come by if they are armed. I just assume they are. Good neighbors, encourage good communities. IMO. Regards.

"the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s program to convert vacant lots into green spaces led to a 29% reduction in gun violence in the affected neighborhoods."

Correlation does not mean causation, moron.

Buy a unicorn and see what happens.

Research shows that neighborhoods where people walk around and greet one another are safer.

And a neighborhood where you go to the range together is really safe. Besides they may have some tips on reloading.

Article says crime rates are decreasing; it’s just that we hear about it more.

What a pantload!

Property crime and violent crime have been steadily decreasing since the 1990s, with a slight uptick in violent crime since 2015.

Conflated property crimes with violent crimes to torture the data. The ubiquitous proliferation of digital security cameras and cell phone cameras has probably done more to decrease property crimes than any other factor.

The early 1990s represented the peak of the crack epidemic. Current rates for aggravated assault, rape, and homicide remain above 1990 levels and are increasing. The violent crime rate increased 5% from 2020 to 2021 and 2% from 2021 to 2022. The intentional homicide rate increased 28.64% from 2019 to 2020.

Our most populous cities are responsible for the increases in violent crime from 2011 to present . Violent crime has decreased in medium cities and the rest of the nation.

If you remove the crime statistics from the 20 most populated cites in the United States (all run by democrats for the last 70+ years) this country would have a lower crime rate than Lichtenstein.

Communities need an uncensored bulletin board where citizens can post real time photos of possible criminal activity or suspects, that police can monitor and perhaps take action on.
