We have it here in the Chicago area too, but not quite that bad.

It really felt as if there was an eclipse. Everything had a weird shade of yellow orange. Smoke smell everywhere.
Now I hear thunder.

Smells like winter and my neighbor has a fire in the fireplace. Nice smell. But the haze has been pretty impressive.
