It’s always a wonderful thing when leftists shoot themselves in the foot and, in this case, the results are extraordinary.
Last June, the Daily Wire debuted Matt Walsh’s What Is A Woman? Throughout the movie, Walsh politely asks both conservatives and leftists, especially leftists with medical degrees, “What is a woman?” The answers from the left are astonishing and revealing. Leftists boycotted the movie but, now, thanks to a really stupid move by leftists formerly employed at Twitter (who tried to block a 24-hour free window for the movie), the Streisand effect has sent the movie’s viewership into the stratosphere.
I won’t re-review What Is A Woman?, which I wrote about a year ago. The short version is that the movie is superb. Today, as the battle over so-called “transgenderism” heats up in America, the movie’s factual and cultural points are arguably more important than ever. Certainly, that’s what the Daily Wire thought, because it arranged with Twitter to have the movie screened for free over a 24-hour window at the start of the annual June slobber-fest over aberrant sexual behavior.
After Twitter agreed to let the movie be screened on its site, and right before its launch, Twitter informed the Daily Wire that the movie was “hateful conduct” because it included “misgendering.” Therefore, Twitter announced that it was restricting the movie’s visibility.
The kerfuffle ended with two high-level Twitter employees getting the boot. More importantly, having once again affirmed that Twitter is an open platform for legal content, Elon Musk then suggested that every parent should watch the film: [link to the twitter film. It is really a good film. I see why the left hates it.
They hate having their worldview challenged!
It’s a pretty simple concept, just ask the one question.
Americans used to be known for their common sense, many people he interviews are “professionals” with zero common sense. Some are unable to even respond to the simple question he asks.
I was absolutely blown away by What Is A Woman. I believe it will have a powerful effect, going into the future. My children and I talked about it all afternoon today.
It was produced by the Daily Wire business operation. Ben Shapiro is listed as an "Executive Producer."
It was at least as good as anything Rush Limbaugh did on his best day. Remarkable.
I won't attempt any sort of point-by-point review of What Is a Woman, if for no other reason than that there was simply too much in it.
For the left, it is devastating. If anything, that's an understatement. I'll just leave it at that.
I totally agree with your review. It is devastating to the trans-woke left.
It reminded me of that drone video from Afghanistan, the one where a JDAM hits the side of a mountain, and a split second after the bomb explodes, a much larger explosion shoots out of the mountain a half a mile away, and you realize that there was a huge underground arms depot and ammo dump dug deep into the mountain, and the JDAM blew the entire thing to kingdom come.
And, don’t miss the ending with Matt and his wife in the kitchen. A perfect visual metaphor.
That was when I teared up.
I just saw it.It WAS great.
Matt Walsh was very polite to everyone he interviewed.
When he starts asking simple questions, the interviewees really got triggered.
I'm trying to decide who the most insane person was. Either the blue-haired "pediatrician" or maybe the sociology "professor".
"What is a woman?"
"I'm not answering that! It's just too complicated. I'm going to end this interview if you don't stop."
When Matt Walsh asked him "are familiar with the concept of 'a circular argument'" is when he realized he was completely check-mated by a superior intellect. And that he couldn't just end the interview right then without looking even worse than he already looked.
There's a line from the Neil Diamond song Love On The Rocks that I've always loved. The line is "when they know they have you, then they really have you."
The best ambush interview Leslie Stahl or Morley Safer or Mike Wallace ever did couldn't hold a candle to that interview. That's what happened to that stupid psuedo-professor with Matt Walsh.
And he can never make it go away. It's out in the world, and he can never, ever get it back.
I learned that they have a lot of flies in Africa.

He started rolling eyes right in the beginning and quickly terminated the interview.
The others at least tried to answer.

I understand, but to me, that sort of madness has always been there among us. We're just seeing it dragged out into the light now.

QUESTIONEES: Silence. Looking at each other.
WTF. They have to think about it, which means they are triangulating the answer.
THAT is the problem that really irritated me. It was more important to them to be politically correct than it was just to answer the question which everyone knows.
