Will they be paying for the mega stadiums and upkeep?

This should be taxable income?

A late friend was all-state HS basketball, four years college, and drafted into the pros ( #666 or something) and had many tales about life on "THE TEAM" and instructors that were "FRIENDS Of THE TEAM".

Of course it should be taxable - and the college athletes in money-making sports absolutely deserve to be paid. Men's team sports - particularly college football and baseball - have made a fortune for universities for decades.

If the players are earning billions then they should be getting paid. There’s never been any problem with coaches getting multi-million dollar paychecks so why not pay the players?

That'll be the final nail in the coffin of college sports.

The dudes are gonna be a little ticked that the female teams that are revenue losers are getting paid the same.

Life just doesn't work that way.

Rapoine or whatever her name is has learned that the hard way.

**That could include a windfall for University of Southern California and University of California, Los Angeles, football players after their schools move in 2024 to the Big Ten,**

Does ‘Ten’ not mean 10 anymore? Hasn’t that conference already increased to 12 or 14 schools?

I love college football and softball. Lots of changes coming most likely. I keep thinking at some point there will be a limit to the money but it nvr happens. I have no problem with them getting what they can get but it’ll be fun to see the war break out amongst athletes if the money gets divided up. They talk woke but they’re capitalists

There may be a dozen or so NCAA programs that make large sums of cash, and in a few years, those programs will set themselves apart from the NCAA, recruiting top players and making a TV deal that will relegate the remaining athletic programs to bankruptcy.

Do the Trans athletes get paid twice?

This will be completely disruptive to college\university education in general. It will spur graduate student unionization as well as unionization for staff, faculty, clerical. colleges & universities one of the last frontiers for unions. Can’t have jocks making more then those in “education”!

Who will have to pay for all of this? can you guess? One word! THE TAXPAYERS both in massive tuition increases & incre4ased subsidies for the schools.

As this is become a profit making enterprise, the players should get paid.

The sports which make money are men’s basketball and football. Everything else is a money loser. With the profits paying the players instead of paying for other sports, will those other sports now be cut? Will college sports be reduced to men’s basketball, women’s basketball (to match the number of athletes), football and enough other women’s sports to match the football rosters?

Certain D1 sports teams are multi-million dollar businesses with huge revenues from League TV sales. They also have revenues from all kinds of sources. Most D1 coaches make far more money than anyone else on campus.

Some college teams are run as business. I have a friend from High School who played for a major D1 team. He was directed to certain courses that would keep his grade point up and provided tutoring. Yes, there are some who take hard academic courses and graduate with honors, but they are few and far between. My friend had little time except for practice, travel for games and rest. Even in the off season the work outs were intense and offered little time for studies.

The skills of these kids is the basis of a multi-million dollar industry, they are “hired” via a scholarship and expenses to labor within that industry, while working far more than an 8 hour day. Some D1 sports like football and basketball are in reality feeder teams for professional football and professional basket ball.

The “Student Athletes” are absolutely not amateurs. It is time to recognize that at least for certain D1 college sports that they are professional sports teams and pay the athletes for their work and sacrifices.
