KELLOGG –– A student at Kellogg High School isn’t being allowed to participate in his graduation ceremony as a result of comments that were made during a recent assembly.
The assembly was a way for senior students to impart words of wisdom to the underclassmen of KHS – the statement that was made by 18-year-old Travis Lohr was one that raised a few eyebrows.
“Guys are guys and girls are girls,” Lohr said. “There is no in-between.”
After the assembly, Lohr was informed that he wasn’t going to be allowed to walk in KHS’s graduation ceremony this Saturday.
Lohr is insistent that he meant no harm by the statement – and that even though he was aware of the potential controversy that it could create, he wasn’t targeting anybody.
Reports from the school paint a picture that is slightly different from Lohr’s account.

The common practice of a tax funded high school treating an adult 18 year old like a defiant kindergartner is a big part of the problem with modern education.
Let him walk. He more than earned it. The rule certainly is a get around the First Amendment. I am not sure of its legality. I am sure of it being wrongly applied.
He is probably that good bit more educated and thoughtful than most of his peers.
Sue the chit out of the school district, every school board member, administrator and teacher involved in making this decision. This adult (he’s 18) had his first amendment rights abused by the government and lazy ass government employee pieces of chit. This crap has to stop.
Old school.
““Guys are guys and girls are girls,” Lohr said. “There is no in-between.””
The horror! At least he didn’t say “water is wet”. What an outrage that would have caused.
Amusing at times to see those voice in on 1st amendment issues and filter their own words...
The communists are so many places of authority and they will try to punish us in any way they can.
You need to preo, folks. If you fight this war against the communists in your town, they will try to get you fired, will use lawfare against you, will threaten you and physically hurt you, them claim victimhood when you fight back in any way.
There’s a bit more to this story.
It involves the local sheriff who is married to one of the teachers at the school.
That angle isn’t getting any press for some reason.
I wonder why.

BREAKING: Kellogg HS Postpones Graduation Following Protest At School.
Shoshone County Sheriff Holly Lindsey cited “Safety Concerns.”
Sheriff Lindsey is “married” to Kellogg HS Art Teacher Rachel Krusemark, one of the 3 teachers offended by Travis Lohr’s statements.
The truth hurts the left.
You understand
We are surrounded.
Fight back.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
The kid earned the right to graduate and should not be denied it on someone's whim about what constitutes acceptable speech. This is a control mechanism, plain and simple.
Dump the sheriff and his wife.
He should show up in a dress and wig and claim discrimination if they do not allow him to participate.
And get the kids the heck out of publik skrewls.
Well we certainly can’t allow a student to be HONEST!! That’s not the current public school indoctrination plan. .../sarc
