If you’re not thirsty, you are drinking enough water. It’s that simple.
Drinking water even when you aren’t thirsty is mainly a fad that came about as part of the diet craze, because if you are continually drinking water, you feel more “full” and will tend to have fewer cravings to pig out on food. At least that’s the theory.
Yes for coffee, when paired with cigarettes.
Mix in a little Rye and it might work.
In sports hydration if you get thirsty you are behind. You have to stay ahead of that curve.
Water, good way to get your MIn daily requirements of flouride, chlorine and PFAS
Now wait just a minute! Caffeine is one of the 5 basic food groups, along with sugar, salt, fat and chocolate.
Some argue that there are 7 basic food groups, to which one would have to add beer and bacon, but I'm agnostic on that.
Sure, in sports, but this is not an article about how much water athletes doing sports need to drink.
You can drink too much water. I ended up in the hospital from it, since I was drinking about 3 liters a day, including waking up in the middle of the night and taking a slug from my water bottle. My salts were already very low and then I did a walk in the heat and got home just in time to call 911 and survive the experience.
Drinking too much water washes the salts (electrolytes) out of your body (anetremia) and then you can go into a fatal collapse, shut down and die.
If you’re going to drink a lot of water, make sure it has electrolytes. You can get them in powdered form and sprinkle them into your water bottle.
Also, drinking a lot of water all at once after heavy exercise, heat exhaustion or even things like getting sick from food poisoning can overwhelm your system and cause it to go into a fatal tailspin.
So be careful...take this with a grain of salt, literally.
Have you seen what water can do to nail? Think about what it can do to biological tissue!
You can drink too much water, but three liters a day sounds very low to trigger such a problem.
I don't recall what started the fad. Maybe it was contaminated water somewhere, or something of that sort.
About water consumption, I read the rule and I'm sticking to it. Take your weight, divide it by two and that's how many ounces one should drink per day. I don't care what it is as long as it's liquid. I include soups.
Hmmm...
Drink water? You mean like what’s in toilets? Drink Brawndo instead; it’s got electrolytes.
What about AYDS?
That’s what I do too! I also add half a packet of Liquid IV to my water bottle to make it more palatable. It has a lot of sodium tho, which is why I divide it in two. I can really tell the difference the next day if I don’t drink at least 60 oz of water every day.
Water’s taste is *boring*???
Fer crying out loud, does everything have to be *exciting* these days??????
Just drink the water and quit your whining. Be grateful you have clean, disease free water to drink, for now.
A little water with my Scotch please. Well. Only of cask strength.
