"The prime suspect in the unsolved 2005 disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway was severely beaten in the Peruvian prison where he is currently being held, his lawyer told ABC News Monday."

“...was severely beaten in the Peruvian prison”
Not severely enough.
Anyone remember when the Holloway family was asked if Natalee had epilepsy or some other type of seizure disorder?
Did Joran tell Aruban investigators she seized up (date rape drug overdose?) when he took her away and assaulted/killed her?
Farewell party. 😏
I think he extorted money from Natalee’s mom under the pretense of telling her where her daughter had been buried.
That is why they want him back in Alabama and the extradition has to go through the Feds. I would prefer he dies in a Peruvian jail...
And he was the piñata!
“Remember, it’s just a bad dream fat boy”
Extorted from Peru. Not on U.S. soil as far as I know. American laws should never, ever apply outside of American territory. It’s an extremely dangerous way of doing things, one of fascist empire, not constitutional republic.
Good! Let’s hope the Peruvians finish him off.
So if I live in the UK and steal money for people’s bank accounts in the US I should not be punished? What if I hire a hitman to kill someone but do so while I am in Brazil?
Best news I’ve heard all day! Where can I send gofundme donations to the beaters?!
You should be punished by and in the UK. Or Brazil or wherever. Is this really such a hard concept? The murder in any case would be done on American soil which would give a U.S. court jurisdiction. Stealing from an American bank account could also be considered U.S. soil.
There are plenty of reasonable alternatives. U. S. courts punishing foreign crimes , not reasonable.
SPJNK.
Did you read? The crime in question is extortion, not murder, and it was committed against Americans. And after he’s tried in the US, he goes right back to Peru to continue his sentence there.
“...The crime in question is extortion, not murder, and it was committed against Americans.”
My only question is exactly WHERE WAS Mr van der Sloot when he committed the extortion? If he was inside US territory then I would say try him here in the US. If, however, he was in another country when he committed the extortion then I don’t think the US has any jurisdiction at all. I’m sure Peru has extortion laws he can be charged under.
Do you read? The crime was committed IN PERU. The fact that the victims are American is irrelevant. Jurisdiction should be Peru, not a fascist superpower.
Believe me, prisons are no picnic in Peru, better off keeping him there, perhaps they’ll finish the job next time.
Yeah, he’s being charged w extortion of a US Citizen.
How stupid. So if an American husband throws his American wife overboard a cruise ship in international waters, he’s home free?
Doesn’t change anything. Young women women will find a way to get into trouble. If street smarts are unnecessary in their upbringing how do you get them to listen?
Attractive ones will draw the most attention, good and especially bad.
