Did you read? The crime in question is extortion, not murder, and it was committed against Americans. And after he’s tried in the US, he goes right back to Peru to continue his sentence there.

My only question is exactly WHERE WAS Mr van der Sloot when he committed the extortion? If he was inside US territory then I would say try him here in the US. If, however, he was in another country when he committed the extortion then I don’t think the US has any jurisdiction at all. I’m sure Peru has extortion laws he can be charged under.
Do you read? The crime was committed IN PERU. The fact that the victims are American is irrelevant. Jurisdiction should be Peru, not a fascist superpower.
