It is to be hoped that they do exactly that, which will kill off one of the main supports of their state economy. Then they can try to figure out how to fund all their initiatives with even less money.

Are the screenwriters still on strike and putting a halt to the late night talk shows? I didn’t miss anything.

This is funny! I haven't been a Georgia resident for awhile so anyone more attuned to GA recent goings on, please jump in with better and updated information.

About 5 years or so ago, the leftest/dem outrage of the day led to a boycott threat against GA by TV and movie production operations in GA. Film industry operations are several hundred million $$$ a year in GA. A big deal.

GA told the Hollywood type interests to pound sand. Hollywood $$$ people told the “creative” people to pound sand after they looked at the bottom line $$$ of filming in GA versus CA. Poof, the boycott threat disappeared.

Fearless prediction is that if this law passes, movie and TV production $$$ and related professionals will flood out of CA to free states. GA and other States will be happy.

My opinions…

Is California killing Hollywood? Sure why not, they are killing every other business in the state.

Agricultural - Their insane water polices are killing farms in the central valley.

Oil - Few know that California has lots of oil both in the ground and off shore but their insane energy policies keep it in the ground.

Businesses - Their insane free $900 worth of goods can be stolen in the open with no punishment for the thief (but any owner that tries to stop them is punished).

“Homeless” - Out of control individual that do not have to conform to societies standard lowering the quality of life for everyone.

Crime - they have stopped prosecuting career criminals.

..and the list goes on.

California is a one party state that has no opposition in either the Republican party or the media so there are no ideas too extreme that can not become law.

California is not unique in this, every major city controlled by Democrats are all doing the same thing.

Nothing will change until the Democrat party goes the way of the Whigs and I don’t see that happening any time soon.

A description of the video content:

Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses California Senate Bil 735, a bill to finally address the scourge of gun violence which is reeking havoc on the Hollywood film industry. This bill will lay over California's already heavily regulated film industry with a whole new layer of oversight and of course, cost. This internal gun control, done only as California can do it, will ultimately force all major film makers to take most of their projects out of state. Saw someone on TV asked about this point and they said most movies are not made in Hollywood these days, just TV shows: sitcoms and the like.

This only applies to films that receive a tax credit. I believe that for a film to receive the tax credit they have to have a budget of at least $1,000,000.

The Bill would not go into effect for 2 years:

https://trackbill.com/bill/california-senate-bill-735-motion-picture-productions-safety-firearms-ammunition/2373763/

This is, coincidentally, when the current film tax credit plan expires. So, presumably, this is tied to updating the tax credit plan.

Much ado about nothing.

Also, these rules are not entirely unreasonable in light of the Alec Baldwin/Rust shooting.
