MILLER LITE CARB DAY Friday, May 26 at 11:00am on Peacock network.

A bit of history:

For those that don't know Carb Day was the last chance to make any final adjustments to the engine fuel mixture and tuneup back in the days when the cars still used Carburetors before Fuel Injection replaced them. It was also the last chance for making any changes and adjustments to the cars.

These days it is the last chance to fine tune the setup of the car's suspension, make sure that the drivetrain has no leaks or other problems before Sunday's Indy 500.

End that history lesson.

It’s racing. It’s rock ‘n roll. It’s pure bliss. Miller Lite Carb Day is the ultimate turbo boost into the greatest weekend in racing! This high-octane party features some of the most exciting action on (and off) the track as the world revs its engines for the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. Let’s get Back to Rock Friday, May 26.

JEWEL TO PERFORM NATIONAL ANTHEM AT INDIANAPOLIS 500 May 19, 2023 | By Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Joins Must-Watch Pre-Race Show on NBC

Jewel, a multi-platinum singer-songwriter, actress, mental health lived experience expert and best-selling author, will perform the national anthem before the start of the 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 28 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“The singing of the national anthem before the Indy 500 green flag is a signature and iconic moment at the Racing Capital of the World,” said IMS President J. Douglas Boles. “For over a century, we’ve gathered at IMS to salute our nation’s military heroes, and the national anthem performance is a tradition that reminds us all of their sacrifice and bravery. Jewel’s rendition will be a memorable and moving experience for fans at the track and watching from home on NBC.”

As a lived experience expert and pioneer in the mental health space, Jewel is passionate about democratizing wellness. She developed an emotional and mental health curriculum that has been proven to work by experts. For 21 years, her Inspiring Children Foundation and Jewel Inc. have been bringing these mental health programs to at-risk youth and to corporations. She recently joined the innovative mental health platform Innerworld as co-founder and chief strategy officer to make mental health support more accessible to all. Jewel also created SELLA, a language arts curriculum for schools that incorporates social and emotional learning and mental health practices.

Jewel went from a girl who grew up with no running water on an Alaskan homestead [The Kilcher family are relatives of the singer Jewel, with Atz being her father] to earning 26 music award nominations, becoming a multi-platinum recording artist who released one of the best-selling albums of all time.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a cause and conversation in which the INDYCAR paddock has been an active participant.

NBC’s live coverage of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge starts at 11 a.m. (ET) Sunday, May 28.

Now that Penske owns it, he’s done some much-needed improvements.

You were in the crew with Arie Luyendyk? Which year was your win? Or were you on both his teams?

Had to be ‘97.
Treadway was the team.
Scott Goodyear came in Second place
for a 1-2 finish for the team.
It’s a blur to say the least....
I was the Team wire guy.

It was clear Johnny had a passion for them. I bet it was one of his life’s greatest career type achievements, second to wife and family. He was a good guy, too. What a character! I bet he could write a pretty good book as a UPS delivery man. The places he’d been and the things he’d seen. Probably had to get out of some pretty crazy situations. Then to top it off with being part of a pit crew for Helio! It’s still a cool story to me!

I live in Indy 13 years and Loved it!
But turned 45 in 2000 and needed to make a change.
Regrets—— a little.

You are only a few years older than me and hubby. We raised our kids in Cbus, Ohio, and were there for 25 years. I loved the Midwest from the minute I was greeted by very helpful other passengers at baggage claim with two very small children in tow. They brought us a luggage cart that they paid for. It won my heart very quickly. Southerners are polite. Midwesterners are genuinely kind.

We moved to Indy almost ten years ago (in October) with a job change for my husband. Funny, even though we were in Ohio for 25 years, it was new to us for the first ten. So we knew nothing of Indiana until we moved here. The nest moved. As I’ve said in the past, we live in the cutest, nicest Midwestern town, which is a suburb of a suburb west of Indy. We call it Mayberry here, and it’s not far off. “Mayberry Man” was filmed here (partially).

I bet where you live now is pretty great, too. My ophthalmologist wants to retire there in the next few years. I keep telling him he has to wait a few more years! He’s the absolute best in his business. When he goes, I’ll send you his business card. He’s smart and talented. I don’t say that lightly. So if and when he moves to your neck of the woods, I’m happy to give you a referral. It wouldn’t be my first and won’t be my last.

Mr G and I started following Bobby Rahal in his first race at Mid Ohio. We were sitting on a corner and noticed how he hit absolutely the same spot every time he came by.

Years later when we moved back to Columbus Ohio, we rented a warehouse space that was several doors down from his teams. It was a thrill to see him win the 500. We obviously have a fondness for Graham and I’m glad he’s got a ride this year..... even if it isn’t his own.

Will this be the year where the announcer says at random times during the race:
“Ok everyone reverse course”

Used to listen to it on AM radio in Chicago when I was a kid.

Went to Indy for the race in '70. Saw it from the mud hole inside the 1st turn. 2 weeks later I was standing on the Yellow Footprints at MCRD San Diego.
Rented a motel room outside of Disneyland in '71, just to watch it on TV.
Watched it on AFRTS on Okinawa in '72.
Took my GF and actually could afford seats inside the 3rd turn in '76...

What the hell happened?

Yes they are and the 55 broke Tony Stewart's Rookie speed record.

Probably helps to take some of the pain and grief away from A.J. having his Wife of nearly 68 years, Lucy pass away. RIP Ma'm . Or maybe not. I've lost one Fiancé and My 2nd Wife, still think about them every day.

Well closing the Museum SUCKS !!! Little Al has written a book about his problems. It’s not like Uncle Bobby was “upstanding citizen”, plenty of run ins with ABQ PD over the years.
