In her final interview just six weeks before her death, Tina Turner said she wanted to be remembered as 'the Queen of Rock 'N' Roll'.
The iconic singer died at her home in Küsnach near Zurich, Switzerland, today at the age of 83 following a long, unspecified illness.
Her representatives confirmed her death, saying: 'With her the world loses a music legend and role model.'
On April 9, in what are believed to be her final public remarks, she told The Guardian how she hoped the world would remember her - and how she did not fear death.
'How would you like to be remembered?' the Guardian asked.
'As the Queen of Rock’n’Roll. As a woman who showed other women that it is OK to strive for success on their own terms.'
Asked what 'scares' her about getting older, she replied: 'Nothing. This is life’s full adventure and I embrace and accept every day with what it brings.'
Sharp as ever, Turner joked about whether she'd like more sex, money or fame - 'at my age, is there another option?' and told how she was enjoying 'anonymity in retirement'.
Turner is survived by two of her four sons - two preceded her in death - and her 67-year-old husband, Erwin Bach. The pair married in 2013 after dating for nearly 30 years.
Among the first to lead tributes to her today was Mick Jagger, who she shared electrifying on-stage chemistry with.
'I’m so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly an enormously talented performer and singer.

We just added Proud Mary to our garage band’s repertoire. I sing Creedance Clearwater’s version but in the spirit of Tina Turner, mainly because Tina’s version is so campy at the beginning. I’m glad she found happiness in anonymity at the end because I think fame is a heavy burden to carry.
RIP.
She did it by just being good and sexy and performing and not showing everything she had and being stupid. A smart entertainer, she knew what she was and did it very well
“She was a survivor dealing with Ike, RIP Tina.”
Yes she was. When she finally got away from Ike, she was pretty much destitute. She made a huge comeback and made a fantastic career for herself. RIP Tina.
She’s gone beyond the thunderdome.🤔
That’s not Tina. That’s an actress portraying her in a stage play.
Wanda Jackson is great! Glad she’s still with us.
Loved Tina. Amazing performer.
Bump for later reading.
Sorry to her fans in advance, but I always thought she was terrible and I always switched the channel when any of her songs came on. In my opinion she over-sang every song, making into a mess.
Deader than all the rest
Rest in peace Tina Turner

Thx. Didn’t know that. Wish I could hear Knopfler sing it. :)
Yeah, whenever I hear that one, I play it like five more times in a row.
Also love
We Don’t Need Another Hero
The hottest performance Tina ever did was with David Bowie, “let’s dance”. The chemistry was off the charts.
That’s a great song. Can’t recall if I’m seen them do it together.
