A “plus size model” who posts under “Big Curvy Olivia” on Tik Tok has accused United Airlines of discriminating against her and other passengers of size after she struggled to wedge herself through the Polaris Business Class cabin on a recent flight.
She faulted United for discrimination, lamenting that it should build wider aisles on its aircraft.
Admittedly, I’m covering this somewhat out of amusement: it is not my aim to fat-shame this woman and I do question whether she is even serious. First, she has a backpack on. Maybe you try removing that before wedging yourself through a tight space? She looks like one of those rude people whose backpack hits those around her when walking down an aisle because they are too self-centered or oblivious to remove it. Second, maybe use this moment as a wake-up call to take control of your body?
If I was running for Congress, my pet peeve issue would be preventative health. The obesity around us amazes me (and the reason for that, ranging not just from a lack of self-discipline, but due to food insecurity and food deserts and the prohibitive cost of preventive healthcare, cries out for a far greater emphasis in terms of public policy).
Every time I cover a story like this, I think of the analysis below by Bill Maher. With malice toward none and charity toward all, I admonish us all to take care of the only body we have. The best way we can do so is by eating right, exercising, and sleeping. And let us not embrace the confusion of calling such efforts hateful—
He’s spot on. Every member of the human family should be afforded dignity and respect, but this idea that it is cool or fashionable to be obese is a destructive and perverted form of wokery run amok.
Ok, I’m stepping off the soap box.
As for Olivia, recognition of the problem is the first step toward recovery. People are not laughing with you, but at you. In all sincerity, don’t wait any longer. I wish you all the best.
Stop discriminating against fat people or she’ll have you for a snack.
Restart the C-17 production line?
That is certainly the least complaint I could think of to use against UAL. Only masochists and first timers would fly UAL for longer than thirty minute hops.
When a UAL stewardess is in the aisle there is no emergency bathroom call that could get you past her. Fat women and obviously rude men must work cheaper and thus become UAL staff.
I used to believe that he charge should be based on total weight of a passenger and his luggage. I know bit more about marketing now and understand that would not be the most profitable tactic and would draw the rage of leftists and congressmen.
In that case she must have a HUGE bone in her ass.
And a pint of Haagen-Dazs.

Where are all the large Amish people? Hard work, plus a healthy diet=Thin.
"When you go jogging, do you leave pot-holes? When you make love, do you have to give directions? At the zoo, do the elephants throw YOU peanuts? Do you look at a menu and say 'OK'?"
“we Americans are LARGE people and the airlines have gotten away with making the seats smaller, leg space less, aisle’s narrow as well...”
True, one reason I rarely fly anymore and I am not large but the leg space these days is a killer.
More to the point of this thread my wife USED to have a bad weight problem so much so that we took to buying 2 seats. Problem with that was that even though we would make sure the ticket agent knew we wanted 2 seats and it was not a mistake, when we got to the boarding gate we would tell the agents there that yes she had 2 seats. When we boarded the plane we would tell the ticket taker that she had 2 seats. Even with all that about half the time just before they closed the door we would see some standby passenger coming down the aisle headed for the empty seat.
I gotta hire bigger actors!!!
Foo Fighters (well, ya, we know - and of course, they couldn’t resist going “there”)
But I’m reminded of the video with the one passenger......

Of course they take off in something like a 757 or 767
and they land in a 727.
THAT is pretty impressive!
