A riot broke out in Cardiff because police wouldn't let the parents of two teenage boys who died in a collision get close to the scene, a close relative of one of the crash victims has told Sky News.
Jenny Sampson was at the scene after two boys, who have not been named, were involved in a crash while riding an electric bike on Snowden Road in the Ely area of the city on Monday night.
She said: "Basically we were all at the scene, the police was just having none of it, they wouldn't let the mums, the dads come up and see their own kids laying on the floor."
"They wouldn't let (the parents) do nothing, it was disgusting how they treated them, and they made them walk home and give them the news in the house, didn't give them any sort of news at the scene, we were there for hours waiting and waiting and they still wouldn't let them through to see if their son was OK."
In the hours after the crash, fireworks and other missiles were thrown at a line of police officers with riot shields who were blocking one end of the street.
A helicopter hovered overhead during the disorder as at least two cars were set alight.
Asked what caused the rioting, Ms Sampson said: "The police, how bad the police treated everybody, you can't treat families like that... With two young kids laying on the floor, and their own family couldn't even get to them, they couldn't even seen their own son's last breaths, it's wrong and it's disgusting."

An anti-police riot! I dont think i've come across this before...
In Wales?........................
I think perhaps it might have something to do with the condition of the bodies; if they are pretty well mangled it is not unusual to keep loved ones from viewing the remains.
I agree with you seems the residents were pretty p**sed though to lead them to riot.
Maybe emotions running high. Such a tragedy
True. It could be any number of reasons.
Another thought I had was maybe the driver who hit the kids was a recent immigrant and the Police did not want the parents or Media to discover that. Though I am sure the Media would cover it up anyway. It’s hard to avoid having conspiratorial thoughts these days.
Having worked in a big city ER I’ve seen a fair amount of tragedy. Some of my most vivid memories are of family members being told of their loved one’s fate.
Scotland?
Could be the victims weren’t Welsh at all but from some dusky God forsaken scheisse hole

I nearly sprayed my coffee!
My thought as well. In addition, police could have been treating it as a crime scene. But...that could easily have been communicated by the police as well as directing parents to the morgue once the bodies were transported. But I may be giving these police personnel too much credit.
As we often see there’s insufficient information to draw a proper conclusion. Also doubtful that we’ll ever get a genuinely informative follow-up.
Watch it, now ...
There is an underlying anger in society created from authorities adding restrictions and claiming power with Covid that they never had before in recent years. People want their freedom and when government takes more and more of it away there will inevitably be something that snaps (rightly or wrongly) that causes push back and more.
Interesting that there are no pictures of said rioters.
Dusky Scots? Not since they shut down the coal mines.
Maybe they're trying to turn everyone into Scotsmen...
I’m on the BBC website. They named the boys who lost their lives:-
The two teenage boys killed in a crash that sparked a riot in Cardiff on Monday evening were being chased by police, some residents have claimed to the PA news agency.
Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and 15-year-old Harvey Evans were killed in the Ely area of Cardiff while riding an electric bike.
South Wales Police have strongly denied the boys were being pursued by officers.
Had an incident during the winter were a young woman drove her car into a barrier and her car flipped into the water. She was missing for several days. Where her car went in is a site used to launch canoes. I myself was there in-between finding the car, and I noticed that someone had dented the guardrails. When someone eventually noticed the car in the water, her parents were at a loca l store. The cops kept them there until they could bring the car up and recover the body.
What greater source of truth and accuracy could there be than an angry mob boiling over with rumors and drink...
