Every Russian man is required to serve for a year. When they are called up after that year, they get further training. The Russians produce ads like the one above because this is what they believe their soldiers should look like.
Believing that a bunch of hapless souls with no previous military service kidnapped from the streets and their homes to fight in a conflict that they want nothing to do with can hold their own against the Russian military has been crazy from day 1.
In our own country less than 25% of our young people can even qualify for military service. Our military is made up of the best young people that our country has, but our officer corps has been in steady decline due to woke leadership.

No argument from me on the historic treatment of Russian troops by their leadership. Unfortunately, in this conflict it has been the Ukrainian side who has been throwing people with little to no training into suicidal situations.
