Sorry no link heard on radio
RIP to my favorite footballer - when he quit so did I quit watching the sport. Also the best mid-field lacrosse player ever.
1936-2023
"Give me the ball!" (RIP, Jim!)
Just once I want to see him make it to that truck.
Close friend of Trump....
Read his autobiography, he was pretty racist and really disliked white women.
“He was absolutely the greatest football player of all time.”
It’s hard to say he was the best “of all time.”
But, I’m in my 70s, and in my opinion he was the best during my lifetime.
My father was a big Cleveland Browns and Jim Brown fan.
As a Cowboys fan, I love Emmitt Smith and Tony “TD” Dorsett!
As a football fan, I loved watching Walter Payton and Barry Sanders break ankles on their cuts and of course, watching Earl Campbell BOWL OVER or CARRY 2 or 3 defenders.
But Jim Brown was a MAN among boys considering he averaged 102 yards per game for his career, and never missed a game in all nine years in the league! And that was in a time when the NFL was a run-happy league...everyone was LOOKING for a run 90% of the time and still couldn’t do much about Jim Brown!
I am willing to argue that, as of today, Jim Brown is the GOAT running back of the NFL - PERIOD!
My Uncle who played for the Cardinals, Giants and Rams as a Defensive Back from the mid 50’s to mid 60’s surely had nightmares when Clevland was on the schedule.
No doubt, I am lucky enough to have seen him play.
One of the few movie character deaths that will be with me until the end.
RIP Mr. Brown.
He was an Army veteran, Brown participated in the US Army ROTC program at Syracuse. He was commissioned a second lieutenant and served four years in the Army Reserve, while playing in the NFL. He received an honorable discharge as a captain.
I recall how slooooooly he would return to the huddle. On the next play he’d carry again “5 yards and a cloud of dust”.
“If the team ran him every play, they’d be unbeatable.”
They pretty much did. He was all they had in the late 50’s early 60’s so he had a lot of touches. From ‘56 to ‘65, teams completed 51% of their passes but averaged only 14.4 yards per completion. So the run dominated.
One thing about Brown most don’t know was that he was considered from many opponents, coaches, the media, and The National Lacrosse Hall of Fame as the greatest lacrosse player that ever lived. He is enshrined the Lacrosse HOF.

Best running back EVER.
I’ll read it. But I remember the 1960s, and it was a pretty racist country back then. If I had been a young black man in the 50s, I probably would have supported violence.
Jim Brown was a racist and hostile to white women, and I wasn’t talking about him in the 1950s.
R.I.P. Jim.
His rookie card?
I’m so sad to hear this news. RIP, Mr. Brown.
Bet you he’d have lived to be over 100 years old if he hadn’t played pro football.
