Police in North Texas say a domestic dispute turned violent when a teacher decided to turn on his son and stepdaughter while they were in their rooms. The Mansfield Police Department arrested Thomas Boykin, 52, on Tuesday night, May 16, in connection with assaulting his wife and shooting his 13-year-old son while he was asleep and then his 21-year-old stepdaughter while she was in bed, according to NBCDFW.
Police say the incident began as a domestic dispute until Boykin turned physically violent before getting his gun to shoot his kids at their Mansfield home. Mansfield is a suburban area between Dallas and Fort Worth. The wife was able to escape the home and the daughter called 911.
NBCDFW reports that the son and daughter were transported to Medical City Arlington to undergo surgery. As of Wednesday, May 17, both were listed in serious but stable condition.
Mansfield ISD confirmed to the NBCDFW that Boykin teaches eighth grade at Linda Jobe Middle School. The district told NBCDFW that Boykin is on leave and the superintendent is now following through with the termination process.
Boykin was transported to jail in Everman, which is northwest of Mansfield. Court records show that Boykin is being held on three counts of aggravated assault with a total bond amount of $900,000. Police are still trying to determine what led to the argument that turned violent.

I don't think the Tarrant DA is a Sorosite. Dallas, Harris (Houston), Bexar (San Antonio) and Travis (Austin) do. I've seen Fort Band County on a list as well, but don't know anything about that one.
