Last fall, the U.S. National Park Service sent out a message on Facebook asking visitors to “refrain from licking” the toad (technically Incilius alvarius but commonly called Bufo alvarius). That message came months after a New York Times article covered the booming interest in the psychedelic compound that the toad excretes from its skin — along with the “poaching, over-harvesting and illegal trafficking” that have accompanied that interest.
They “work orally, through the mucous membranes, and cause really dangerous side effects, like cardiac arrest,”

What if an ugly duckling is looking for a prince?
Attention concert goers! “DO NOT LICK THE YELLOW TOADS!”
Yeah, from Democrats.
Are there any interesting subjects that Homer S. has not been involved in?

but if you find the right one They/Them could become your charming Prince
When I lived in Tucson in the 70s the hippies were already licking toads. Sounds like they were lost and rediscovered.

Something very Darwinian about that.
Just looked at it on Google Earth, appears to be a nice area. We stayed overnight at Maumelle on our recent trip.
For a time we were considering retiring to western Arkansas, maybe somewhere outside Mena, but eventually we decided to stay in Arizona.
Mena is probably greener than AZ. It’s not too far from Hot Springs which is a nice touristy type town. I like the looks of the area myself. It has running streams and pine trees and mountains. But AZ sounds nice as well. I’m in the NW corner myself and at my age it’s hard for me to think about moving.
