A driver in Colorado tried to avoid being arrested for a DUI by swapping seats with his dog after being pulled over.
The unknown man was stopped by police in Springfield, Colorado, just before midnight on Saturday for allegedly driving 52 mph in a 30-mph zone.
Springfield Police Department said that they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle which had been traveling near 7th and Main Street in the town.
In a post to Facebook, the department said: 'The driver attempted to switch places with his dog who was in the passenger seat, as the SPD officer approached and watched the entire process.
'The male party then exited the passenger side of the vehicle and claimed he was not driving.'
The man, whom police didn’t name, appeared intoxicated, and when asked by an officer if he’d been drinking, he ran away.
He was then apprehended about 20 yards from the vehicle, police said.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was medically cleared, then booked into the Baca County Jail on charges including driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, speeding and resisting arrest, police said.
Police also said that the man had been driving from Las Animas to Pueblo, both in Colorado, and had gotten lost.
The dog was then later handed over to a friend of the driver and police confirmed that the pet was let go with just a warning and will not face charges.

YUP!
“driving 52 mph in a 30-mph zone”
Kind of the state’s fault for not posting the speed limit in terms that dogs can understand.
I was doing 52 in a 30 zone just this morning before I realized it.
No, I wasn’t snockered…
52=30 if you use the dog years factor.

The dog was driving from Las Animas.
He was dyslexic. Dog is his co-pilot.
