THE BEATLES: Jane Asher dumped Paul McCartney live on TV while he was watching at home with friends. How did Paul end up with the girl all the Beatles fancied and why did it go wrong? Why did Jane Asher end the relationship and who is her famous husband now?
On July 21, 1968, popular young actress and model Jane went on the hugely popular BBC chat show Dee Time. The early evening light entertainment series attracted up to 18 million viewers. Jane was well-known in her own right as well as being the girlfriend of one of the most famous men in the world, so when she told host Simon Dee that her five-year relationship with Paul was over, it created a huge stir. Jane cryptically said: "I haven’t broken it off, but it’s finished." Had Paul's latest blatant infidelity been the last straw

Don`t know about Albert Lee, but Alvin Lee passed away back in 2013. RIP. Goin` Home...
Paul’s “Woman” was a hit for them.
“Well, there are only two left, I’m told.”
Technically, there are 3 living individuals who would be classified as former members of The Beatles:
(James) Paul McCartney
Richard Starkey (aka Ringo Starr)
Randolph Peter (”Pete”) Best
Jane Asher’s brother was half of Peter and Gordon, and McCartney wrote songs for them, including their best known, “A World Without Love.”
The Monkees weren’t even really a band when NBC put them together. They were supposed to be “the Beatles next door.”
He even wrote a song or two for them under a pseudonym.
Lovely.
Is Stuart Sutcliffe still alive?
Stu died 10 April 1962.
Stuart Sutcliffe died of an abdominal aneurysm or something like that before they became world famous. That’s when Paul switched from rhythm guitar to bass. Apparently they once said in an interview that Stuart was the most artistic of them all. They could have been even better with him.
The Monkees were put together through an ad in one of the Hollywood papers. But the producers had no thought of having them actually play songs until they staged a walkout. Davey was hired because of his British accent. The other three actually had musical talent I think Mickey Dolenz is the only survivor now.
Small correction: Paul wrote the song for the Beatles. John did not like it, so Paul gave it to Peter Asher.. The song of course became a huge hit. Peter Asher tells the story in his show.
Well that settles it: He is not touring with Alvin. Thanks
The raspy voiced (these days) Peter Asher is on the Beatles Channel on XM and wrote/narrated an audiobook. Paul lived with the Ashers for awhile and wrote a couple songs (well at least one) for Peter and Gordon.
Paul wrote one A World Without Love and played it for John, who didn’t like it and poked fun at the first line
Paul (sings): Please, lock me away..
John: OK...end of song!
Looked it up—Paul also wrote Woman
and I Don’t Want To See You Again for
Peter and Gordon. Woman (John later wrote/
sang song with same title) was written
by Paul under pseudonym Bernard Webb
(could he write a hit without his name
as songwriter?)
Often songs credited to Lennon-McCartney
were really by one of them but credited
to both.
Peter Asher is now a Hollywood record producer.
He was the European manager for both Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor.
Indeed he was a multi-faceted individual including the owner of an Art Gallery which featured a new artist: Yoko Ono. Paul and John attended the showing and that was where John was introduced by Peter to Yoko.
The punchline of the story was: So, if you want to blame the breakup of the Beatles on anyone, you can blame me.
Pete Best’s mom loaned John Lennon the military medals that he wore on the Sgt. Pepper album.
