California Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford is warning African Americans not to get their "hopes up" for massive reparations payments from the state.
Bradford’s message comes after the California Reparations Task Force recommended over the weekend that the state pay up to $1.2 million in reparations to each eligible Black resident.
The state lawmaker, who served on the task force, claimed that it’s possible that Black residents could receive cash payments "if the money’s there," but argued that receiving million dollar checks in repayment for historical discrimination is "not happening."
The reparations panel held a public meeting in Oakland, California, on Saturday and voted on the final set of recommendations to be sent to the state's legislators.
In addition to the payments, the nine-member panel recommended the state apologize to Black residents.
U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., who attended the meeting, stated afterward, "Reparations are not only morally justifiable, but they have the potential to address long-standing racial disparities and inequalities."
But Bradford told potential recipients not to expect huge payouts when the California government hasn’t figured out where that money would come from.
The state lawmaker from Los Angeles did say that "anything’s possible if the money’s there," but added he will stay "realistic" about what actual payments may be, according to the Associated Press.

There is a humbling coming because of it.
I would like to know the salary/perks for the members of this “task force”.
Corporations will just wind up getting all the money back anyway.
That’s really the dirty little secret about Reparations, it’s all about putting more money in the hands of the Conglomerates in the end.
But Blacks are useful to the Neo-Bolsheviks, just as the Bolsheviks exploited the peasants for their political aims, during The Russian Revolution.

Yes, they will be useful until they are not. Their population, as a share of the general population, has fallen from 20% just after the Civil War to about 10% today.
Because they make good avatars for white liberal women’s causes.

An article today said black leaders are angry the incoming hordes across the border are displacing the black people from shelters in cities.

And I knew a guy who had been a public school teacher here during a big lawsuit which the teachers’ union won for millions of dollars. They then published the names of the teachers in the newspaper and online version. So everybody came up to the guy and said “You got XX million dollars. Lend me some money with your share.”
The lawyers, court costs, filing fees and the rest were taken off the top and the amount per teacher was, I think something like $1,250. Amazing. Probably the reparations will end up that way, after taxes and administrative costs.
Let me try to explain liberal treatment of blacks to a disciplinary method that has been used in the military to discipline a problem recruit.
If a drill sergeant has a problematic recruit, who seems unresponsive to disciplinary measures, one strategy he might use is to treat that recruit as something special but be really hard on the other recruits. He won’t have to dig the latrine or his portion of the meals will be bigger and better than what the other recruits get. This causes a division within the platoon and that “special” recruit will start to be hated by everybody. Eventually that recruit will get the beating of his life and he will have to turn to the drill sergeant for protection, to which the drill sergeant will ask him if he’s going to stop being a problem recruit. They usually say they will no longer be a problem.
The left wants blacks segregated. They have never stopped being racists on that point, but they can’t get the rest of society to agree. So, the left has resorted to giving blacks special privileges, while punishing white people for simply existing.
The intent is to drive white people to the point where they either choose extinction or they choose to become angry and demand that segregation be returned.
Liberals have always believed themselves to be the aristocrats of society, with society having a hierarchy below the liberal with the rest of society forming a strate below the liberal.

You’re right that blacks will not receive as much as they think they will, if this actually becomes a thing. They will either be spent on things that the billionaire class owns or they will invest the money and there will be a stock market crash that wipes out their savings.
In the end, they will get nothing.
But you can’t explain that to them no matter how hard you try.

I remember two news stories on a middle aged black woman in CA and another one in NY as Obama started his campaign. Both said in almost the same words “This car here is gonna be paid for and the gas that goes into it is gonna be paid for once Obama gets elected.” They apparently didn’t riot over his not forking over the cash later. Odd that both women had the same idea and example.
My experience is that money is a lot like water, in that you can’t hold onto it. It has to be flowing or it disappears. So, you either have to spend it on something that won’t disappear or you have to invest it or something.
