Yes, laugh it up but rabbits can be evil. As a graduate student, ironically before Jimmy Carter was attacked, I used to bleed about a dozen domestic rabbits. Eleven of them were pussy cats (but still didn't like me putting xylene on their ears). I could get away with simply wrapping them in a towel. Rabbit #4, I will never forget it's number, was different. My predecessor showed me how to handle #4. You would blind him with a flashlight and poke him with a toilet brush kept next to its cage to get it disoriented so you could throw a towel around it. It would box and growl and scream, literally growl and scream. Then I would wrap it in a second towel and stuff him in a rabbit box just big enough for his head to stick out so you could bleed him from the big vein at the back of the ear. Nevertheless I was careless, not one but twice, #4, although totally immobilized, #4 stretched out his head and bit through my hand. One day it was decided that #4 was no longer producing antibodies and since it was a different day and a different time I will end the story here.
So President Carter, as you lie on your death bed, be consoled that you were not the worst president ever and at least one person was not laughing about the killer rabbit.

My wife works for an ER facility and several times a year people come into the ER having been bitten by a animal suspected as being rabid. Often the people tried to help the animal because it appeared to be behaving strangely. i thought it was common knowledge to not approach wild animals that showed no fear of humans.

As kids my buddy and I took in a baby rabbit that was being given away by a neighbor. We were probably 4th grade and didn’t tell our parents. We kept it out in our fort. It was only a couple of days of asking for more of that yummy salad and our moms got suspicious.
My buddy’s parents let him have it so we built a hutch for him in their backyard. By the time we were in junior high that rabbit was huge. We had built a larger hutch - above ground.
One day some dogs tore into the hutch and killed the rabbit. There was also a dead dog in the yard. I have no doubt the rabbit killed it.

Squirrels rabbits possums and feral cats. The possums and rabbits .. welcome to stay. Cats? Tearing up the wild bird population they gotta go. Squirrels I usually tolerate but this year they’re hell bent on setting up shop in the attic and THAT ain’t happening

Domestic bunnies would die of they were bitten by a rabid animal, so they are just frightened to death! No domestic rabbit should be released to nature. They have no skills for the wilderness! This is a sad state of affairs!
No one should buy a pet rabbit unless you have a plan B if it doesn’t work out...and releasing it into the wild is NOT a plan B!
