    I am fascinated by the Willy Wonka slot machine. Don't play because it's to expensive.
 Also Veruca Salt is no where to be found on the machine. I guess she didn't want to be associated with gambling. .

    Roald Dahl was one of the few people who’s books were improved by being made into movies.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion, or satire, or both.)

     Roald Dahl was one of the few people who’s books were improved by being made into movies. This version, anyway. The Johnny Depp version completely missed the mark.

    What a truly lovely movie! And Gene Wilder is such a better Willy than the vampiric Johnny Depp.

    So glad they didn’t tamper with BFG. The scene with Queen Elizabeth and her Yorkies was wonderful.

    Maybe instead of a remake they could do a sequel with Willy Wonka embracing his inner suburbanite snob, high prices, and rude waiters in;
Willy Wonka and The Cheesecake Factory

    There was the book “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator,” which was not made into a movie.

    The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) was about a little orphan girl who discovers that Giants are real and they come at night and kidnap children to eat.
 She is taken by the one giant (the Big Friendly Giant of the title) that is apparently not into eating kids who tries to protect her.
 According to one paper I read on it the story was a metaphor for a child being kidnapped and groomed. Which is now stuck in my head and I can not un see it. So I decided to pass it along. :)
 But the movie was decent. Not great but decent.

    Big Friendly Giant. Really wonderful book. If you happen to read it you’ll love the phraseology of the Giant.
