'Happy Days' star Scott Baio is leaving California and selling his $3.85M mansion due to rising homelessness and 'rampant' crime in the state - saying 'it's just not a safe place anymore'

Scott Baio says he's set to become the latest celebrity to escape from California as he's placed his $3.85million home on the market, citing the state's disastrous homelessness and crime issues.

The former Happy Days star put his home in Woodland Hills on the market last month, having purchased it for just $1.85million in 2010.

On Twitter, the conservative-leaning sitcom star said that he just doesn't feel secure in the Golden State anymore given the various issues under Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom.

'After 45 years, I'm making my way to finally 'exit stage right' from California,' he wrote.

He then cited the state's homelessness statistics, noting that 'it brings down property value. Also no consequences for crime that is rampant, making things higher in price and it’s just not a safe place anymore.'

The Joanie Loves Chachi star tacked on the hashtag '#ImFree."

Baio also joked that Californians won't miss his right wing views. The actor has been a guest of President Trump's White House in the past.

The actor lives in a gated community called Westchester County Estates, according to Realtor.com.

A 6,300-square foot property containing five bedrooms and 4.5 baths, it also contains a big ceiling, stone floors, a curved staircase, a great room, dining room and home office.

The outside includes a pool, spa, and loads of plantings and a no-build zone behind it.

Los Angeles' wealthiest residents are fleeing the city as Governor Gavin Newsom hikes taxes on the rich and the city crumbles under soaring crime rates - with actor Jim Carrey the latest A-lister to list his home for sale.

Keep in mind that he purchased the home in 2010. Normal appreciation over the last 13 years would bring a doubling to the homes’ value.

Most home in CA have more than doubled since 2010.

That was the end of the 2008 DNC engineered housing loan/banking crisis, so he may have gotten a great deal on it back then.

“Most home in CA have more than doubled since 2010.”

In 2010, we moved from CA to TN. Our house was in Simi Valley, just a few miles from Woodland Hills. Plain ordinary house in a subdivision where the houses all looked alike — nice, but ordinary.

We sold it for $600K. Per Zillow, it passed $1million about three years ago.

(when we got to TN, we bought a 5,000 sq.ft. house on 2.5 acres, on the river for $375K. CA home prices are insane.)

Check out NYS.

Assessments are skyrocketing.

Property taxes are stratospheric.

Asking prices are falling.

People just want out.

I notice Baio doesn’t say where he is moving too.

Nevada? Colorado? Idaho?

They always have been. I grew up in rural western NYS. Family is still there on the land bought in the 1700s.

Taxes are outrageous! The pathetic farmers and blue collar workers eke out a living while supporting the lazy-ass ne’er-do-wells in NYC.

Correct. Many do not understand standard stage positions. As a former rock n roll concert production person I can expound on this topic. If I may.
Stage right = house left (audience facing the stage)
Stage left = house right (audience facing the stage)
Down stage = front of stage
Up stage = back of stage
Center stage = ....center stage
Back in the day stages were angled a bit down toward the audience so people sitting close to the stage could see the players feet. Thus, front is angled down while back, is, consequently angled up. This also gave rise to the phrase “foot lights”.

Also, there were no brown M&Ms in the dressing rooms as those hadn’t been invented yet, ;O)

It figures that ultra-left Jim Carrey would leave. He’s probably condemning everyone who is leaving while doing it.

Mansions ain't what they used to be, apparently. I think the media dopes just call any home worth around $1.5 million or more a "mansion", because of the price. This house is definitely not a "mansion". How big is that lot? Maybe .25 acres?

He should care. He has a net worth estimated at $4 million. A realtor or broker cares. Could be the difference between getting out clean or paying Cali property taxes as an absentee landlord on a homeless squatter camp.
