Secondary bacterial infection of the lung (pneumonia) was extremely common in patients with COVID-19, affecting almost half the patients who required support from mechanical ventilation. By applying machine learning to medical record data, scientists found that secondary bacterial pneumonia that does not resolve was a key driver of death in patients with COVID-19. It may even exceed death rates from the viral infection itself.
The scientists also found evidence that COVID-19 does not cause a "cytokine storm," so often believed to cause death.
"Our study highlights the importance of preventing, looking for and aggressively treating secondary bacterial pneumonia in critically ill patients with severe pneumonia, including those with COVID-19," said senior author Dr. Benjamin Singer.
The investigators found nearly half of patients with COVID-19 develop a secondary ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia.
"Those who were cured of their secondary pneumonia were likely to live, while those whose pneumonia did not resolve were more likely to die," Singer said. "Our data suggested that the mortality related to the virus itself is relatively low, but other things that happen during the ICU stay, like secondary bacterial pneumonia, offset that."
The study findings also negate the cytokine storm theory, said Singer.
"The term 'cytokine storm' means an overwhelming inflammation that drives organ failure in your lungs, your kidneys, your brain and other organs," Singer said. "If that were true, if cytokine storm were underlying the long length of stay we see in patients with COVID-19, we would expect to see frequent transitions to states that are characterized by multi-organ failure. That's not what we saw."
The study analyzed 585 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with severe pneumonia and respiratory failure, 190 of whom had COVID-19.

They didn’t die of cytokine storms? Oh no! There were a bunch of people who were concerned about cytokine storms. They will prefer to forget and I wish I could remember their names so I could remind them.
The entire Covid protocol is harmful. A respiratory therapist turned whistleblower left his job when he realized the CDC’s Covid protocol was killing patients, as was his hospital which employed that protocol. He said that normally he would be allowed to sit patients up or even take them for a walk for little breaks from ventilator (oxygen tank on wheels for the walk) but the protocol required they remain on their backs 24/7, which is bad for their symptoms, the lungs can’t clear like that.
They would be given IV’s, Remdesivir to shut down kidney and other organ function, and then fluid would back up into the lungs causing pulmonary edema, which would be diagnosed as a Covid inflammation/complication - this continued until the patient died. Covid on the death record.
She and I went with the at-home suppliment treatment, including "horse paste" and the antibody treatment. I was only off work for 4 days with COVID. I had coworkers who were out for literally months.
I really hate not being able to trust medical professionals.

Just looked at your posts from early on. This is not what you were screaming. I suppose you were trying to save face but you said nothing if VAPs and now you are just trying to rewrite the record and say me too. Well it ain’t so.
Oh, and no real and professional nurses were screaming this — only nurses hitting up social media for their 10 seconds of fame and practicing well behind their scope were screaming anything. Real nurses were actually assisting us in care and valued team members during a very difficult couple of years, made all the worse by the likes of you who were often wrong and never in doubt.
This research is devastating to what you have erroneously professed and ranted about for the last couple years. Ouch.

Did they look to see how many ICU patients had glutathione deficiency due to the COVID-19 virus blocking the ACE2 receptors in the cells?
A NAC regimen would have brought the glutathione levels back up and prevented the oxidative stress from occurring, giving the body time to respond to the virus.

My wife, who is an RN, was near the point of crying on day 1 when they started using these ventilator protocols for covid.
She was adamite it was killing patients for this very reason. She was not the only nurse who was against this and those doctors, who we know that had a conscience, were afraid to speak up for fear of losing their jobs as well.
One Doctor literally quite over this at her hospital, my wife lost her job over refusing to take the clot shot.
People supporting the covid lies are the worst and I find it hard not wishing great suffering on them, thankfully G-D helps my heart in this!
