“Me and Bobby McGee” is a song written by American singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson and originally performed by Roger Miller.

Gordon Lightfoot did is best.

“All along the Watchtower”is possibly the most obvious answer.

Big Mama Thornton's Hound Dog was better than any others.

Same with almost all originals back in the 50s. The cover was always inferior.

But Dylan may have done Gospel Plow better than Mahalia. A rarity!

Carnegie Hall (early version) of Dylan's Gospel Plow.

Who’s Sorry Now?, music written by Ted Snyder and lyrics by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby. It was published in 1923,[4] when Isham Jones had a major hit with it. Connie Francis’ version is the one people know today.

I was going to come down on you; as the incredible talent the Beatles demonstrated in created, by redefining what Rock was, and the originality of “I am the Walrus” - but, after listening to Styx (and I am a long time fan of Styx); I want to thank you for opening my eyes to hear of them perform this song. Wow. They did a really great job

The Letter - covered by The Arbors

OUCH. The Arbors sound as bad as the Association. Del Shannon's version is too much like the Box Tops, but he got a big hit in the Philippines with it instead of the Box Tops.

I can’t argue, but I generally prefer Chuck Negron’s voice on the lead.
