My wife was working on her computer today and a Google.com photo of the front of our house popped up on her screen. Google had blurred out the American flag that was flying on the front of our house! Why would they do that?
They are communist anti-american morons
Because they are Commie goon who hate you and hate America.
Maybe they blur out all flags and such. When they first started photographing everyone’s house, people were concerned about privacy.
Is that possible?
It’s not all that uncommon to see flags flying in our neighborhood, but for some reason they that the flag should be blocked out.
I checked another house that I know flies the flag and their flag was shown flying.
Interesting observation.
I wonder if their policy varies by year, or by editor, or if the focus was just off. There may be another explanation. I wonder: 1) What is their stated policy? 2) What is their dominant practice?
You are wise to ask both questions. For left loonies like most at Big Tech, what they do is one thing, what they say they do is almost irrelevant.
It was clearly just the flag that was out of focus. It sure would be interesting to hear their reasoning.
I’ve seen gun store signs blurred out in the Google Street View. I don’t think it’s the name of the store that trips the algorithm, but if the sign has a gun on it.
I pulled up the image of my house on Google. They did not blur out my “Thank You Jesus” sign.
Google has been using page rank to censor just about everything for many years. Google is not a tech company, they are an advertising agency and broker.
Maybe there was a breeze. Or their auto-focus picked the house and the flag was at too much of a difference. Most of my house is out of focus, cause I got trees in front that seems to have captures they autofocus. My neighbor without trees is in focus. It’s not like they send out a professional to stand there and do all the stuff professionally and perfectly. They just drive down the street with 360 cameras snapping away constantly then plug them into an automerger. And if the picture gets a little blurry, oh well, they’re probably back in 6 months.
Try flying your homo flag the next time they are photographing your neighborhood.
“It sure would be interesting to hear their reasoning.”
Not to give them any benefit of the doubt, but, given the level of political rancor and anger in the country, maybe they don’t wan’t their platform to be used to give kooks targeting information.
American flag across and down the street from me is in focus. 1 of their 4 patio chairs isn’t. And half of their dog on premises warning sign isn’t in focus... until I move a few feet over. Yeah, autofocus.
Not to give them any benefit of the doubt, but, given the level of political rancor and anger in the country, maybe they don’t wan’t their platform to be used to give kooks targeting information.

Yes, I thought about that too, but would they be actually looking at every single house in my city to see what needed to be blotted out?
Nope, that’s not it. We live in very patriotic North Idaho. I just used Google Maps Streetview to look at streets in Hayden, Dalton Gardens and Coeur d’Alene. It didn’t take but a minute to see a dozen houses flying flags.
