Black mothers are the canaries in the coal mine when it comes to the mental and physical harms of stress from living with gun violence in America.
In the U.S., Black people are likelier than white people to reside in impoverished, racially segregated communities with high levels of gun violence. Research has suggested that living in violent and unsafe environments can result in continuous traumatic stress, a constant form of PTSD. Researchers have also linked experiences of violence and poverty to an increased risk of chronic disease such as cancer and cardiovascular, respiratory and neurodegenerative diseases.
We are Black women and public policy and sociology professors who study health inequities and sustainable policy solutions. Our research has found that Black mothers who feel trapped in neighborhoods they perceived as unsafe because of high levels of community violence are more likely to report elevated PTSD and depression symptoms, as well as elevated stress hormone levels.
The trauma of gun violence and systemic racism isn’t simply a Black mother’s story – it’s an American story.

This statement by its very definition implies that Whites and others live in more RACIALLY DIVERSE COMMUNITIES...
So how exactly are whites so RACIST if they are living in more racially diverse communities than blacks?
I don’t argue that these neighborhoods have higher violence, or crime, or that those things do have a real physical and mental impact on their residence. However, until you return the nuclear family to the equation in these communities NOTHING is going to change...
The fact is these things have been creeping up the socioeconomic ladder for decades as the nuclear family and Fathers and Dads in particular continue to be demonized at every opportunity

Gun violence? Try criminal violence. If I place 10 guns on a table and wait for those guns to kill someone, I would be there till I die without a single killing. Criminals kill, not guns. Just like cars, knives, hammers, crowbar, etc.
Trapped in unsafe neighborhoods...
They have feet, they can walk out of the neighborhood anytime.
Kind of like the spouse that stays with an abusive partner... I have no place else to go.
This will be the excuse used to move them into your nice neighborhood via Section 8 housing.
And with them will come the sons they raised - bringing gun violence, robbery, assaults and other crimes with them.
Since when is it the woman's responsibility to hold the marriage together? He married her, he didn't buy her.
How about the men show a bit of integrity and honor the commitment they made to their wives and take responsibility and stick with then women anyways?
Nobody is perfect but to expect one side to cater to and pander to the other constantly is wrong. Appeasement never works. Expecting her to *keep him happy* will fail just as all other forms of appeasement fail.
Marriage is a two way street and BOTH imperfect people need to work together to make it work. All the responsibility for it should not be laid on one party's shoulders. That is a burden neither person can carry alone.
Yep and it's about to get a whole lot worse in Portland as they pass a "Right to Rest" bill - meaning these mentally ill and drug-addicted homeless can pitch a tent anywhere they'd like, including in front of your home - and if you tell them to leave, that's considered harassment and you'll be fined $1,000 for each incident.
I call bullsh!t on the stress being caused by guns. The stress is being caused by all the “N-words” that they are living around. The article even says it, to wit:

Guns do not commit violence - “The N-word COMMUNITY commits violence.”
And sadly, these little black b*st*rds in these neighborhoods have to become violent, or they do not survive.
The root of all this is the “N word” culture itself. White people can not cure N-word-ness.” No more than someone can cure a drug addict. The person with the problem has to recognize the problem, and then take steps to cure it themselves.
There are things the White community could do to make the transition easier, like for one stop enabling the harmful behavior, but at the end of the day, N-words themselves got to make the change.

Indeed the stats prove it more black on black killings then any other.
