20 years ago, the locals would tell you not to venture beyond one street to either side of Beale Street, while Beale itself was 'ok'.

I’ve been to Beale Street and saw the police use metal detectors to enter the street starting in late afternoon. No search for weapons in the afternoon.

After Memphis took down the statue I thought the discontent would go away.

Looks like they have bigger problems than anyone knew.

My sisters and I went to the BB King bar when we were in Memphis, while working ourselves towards Branson. We never took sny thought about our safety while there.

Boy, were we stupid.

No description of the shooter, so I’ll take an educated guess...

Not anymore, nowhere in Shelby Co is safe. Carjackings in Millington at the Kroger parking lot, Walmart Illegals Bill Lee let into the state, snatches, and grabs, jumps the now run-down trailer park, trailer park fence, and gone. Unregistered Sex Offenders.

I go nowhere unarmed except the Navy base or the voting booth. Not even to the doctors I have to see, Purses hide lots of stuff, soon as I leave it’s back on my hip.

Memphis has a weak Republican mayor, but a bigger problem is the city council.

The DA new DA was indirectly George-Soros sponsored, and certainly won't disappoint Soros, as we have seen from his leftist anti-police campaign and his actions since then, as an officeholder.

Here is an excerpt from the April 11th 2023 city council communications email (bold emphasis is mine). As you can see, they gloat over imposing further restrictions on the police, a stance they have run with since they began exploiting the Tyre Nichols murder.

Council at Work The end of the beginning – At its April 11 meeting, the Council passed Ordinance 5849 to amend the City’s Vehicles and Traffic Codes to clarify appropriate methods of enforcement of traffic violations, otherwise known as the “Driving Equality Act.” Ordinance 5849 separates traffic stops into Primary and Secondary Violations. The Secondary Violations include: - Expired vehicle registration (within 60 days of expiration) - Improperly displayed temporary registration permits and registration plates - A single headlight, brake light, taillight or other paired vehicle light out - Loosely secured or missing bumpers The ordinance stipulates that Memphis Police officers may only stop a motorist for one of these Secondary Violations if there is a simultaneously observed Primary Violation for which an officer, at their discretion, could issue a citation. A Primary Violation is a violation of the City Vehicles and Traffic Codes that does not constitute a secondary violation. The stated purpose of the Ordinance is to help eliminate what some people see as “pretextual traffic stops” that sometimes end up needlessly escalating into use-of-force situations. It also is intended to help free up officers to concentrate on more serious crimes. In consultation with Tyre Nichols’ family, the Ordinance was named the “Driving Equality Act in Honor of Tyre Nichols.” The Council also moved to table – postpone indefinitely – Ordinance 5858. Drafted by the Council’s Attorney at the request of Councilmembers, this Ordinance was intended to consolidate and codify the other six Police Reform Ordinances. Some members of the community, however, contended that this law would instead nullify the others. After some discussion on revising sections that community members found objectionable, the Council moved to table the Ordinance, instead.

While I characterized the passage of the Police Reform ordinances as a victory for advocates, I will note yet again that this Council understands this is not the final victory. We know the fight for justice and equality will continue – and we intend to continue to be a part of it.

Well that explains a few things.... it’s a relief that he’s never been a Republican, because he brings shame on the city.

It’s strange though, that a white politician was elected to major office in Memphis.
