In late March, audio recordings from a 1977 interview detailing how the late President Lyndon Johnson won the 1948 Senate contest in Texas were posted to the archival website of the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. The tapes renewed interest in the sordid episode that saved Johnson’s political career — and threw some light on how American elections have been, and can be, stolen.
In 1977, James Mangan, a reporter for the Associated Press, conducted a series of interviews that touched on the allegations of the 1948 steal. After Mangan died in 2015, family members found the cassette tapes of the interviews at his home in San Antonio. In 2022, they decided they were of such historical value that they needed to be donated to the LBJ Library in Austin.
Here we will take a detailed look at the events leading up to Johnson’s surprise “victory” in the 1948 Democratic primaries.

If i had a time machine and 1 bullet, LBJ would be on the short list for sure.
Bob Schieffer was a kid and saw Johsnon campaigning with a helicopter in 1948.
Helicopters were a new thing back then.
It was a great gimmick.
Johnson would throw his hat out of the chopper into the crowd.
Schieffer said that Johnson had an aide to retrieve the hat to return to LBJ.
LBJ would toss out dollar bills from a helicopter at his opponents rallies. He would land and leave a couple cases of whisky string there...
A sad bit of history. Johnson opened up Pandora’s box and probably had JFK killed too. He was a pretty evil guy.
LBJ wasn’t even subtle about it with his box of found ballots.
A man could commit suicide by shooting himself in the back with his rifle if he looked into somethings too closely. Heck, a fellah could be shot on a galf course in front of witnesses and the shooter basically walk away in LBJ was involved.
golf ... not galf
LBJ was the role model for the RAT Presidents who followed him.
A stolen election leads to the demise of the Black nuclear family.
And Vietnam, and JFK’s murder, and the debasement of American currency, and legalization of abortion killing 100’s of millions, and an all power federal government weaponized against its own people, removal of God from our society etc. The dude was an evil, satanic POS.
First, never take a period of history out of context.
Second, Never believe the AP.
South Texas is still a very corrupt and political area. However the current cross border invasion is destroying a lot of the old school power centers.
Before you accept a revisionist version of LBJ with the help of George Parr stealing the 1948 Senate election from Coke Stevenson, read articles that are as close to the event as possible. In my opinion the are likely more accurate.
Note:
From my youth, I’m 75, I overheard in my grandfather’s den some interesting people who worked in Austin but had roots where I was born. One was a Asst. AG in Austin for 6 or 7 administrations. Remember, the State of Texas as 100% Democrat and that Democrats then were not Leftists. (My grandfather was not political, but we were an old family here, since 1889)
Another neighbor who was an old bachelor like my uncle, was actually a book keeper for George Parr. I never heard a word of that mentioned by him, but there was an understanding locally that it was true.
So, at times, oral history close to an event can be more accurate.
Possibly the worst president we’ve had. Bammy and fdr are in close contention.
“A stolen election leads to the demise of the Black nuclear family.”
Exactly...LBJ said he’d have every %$^&* voting dem for next 200 years.
My US History High School teacher was the daughter of the Sheriff that was best friends with LBJ. They used to go poaching, I mean hunting, together. She had interesting stories of the corruption of LBJ.
This story and Joe Kennedy Sr’s penchant for buying things for his children only lends credence to the story that the 1960 Presidential election also was rigged.
The story long has been that Nixon believed it was so at the time but didn’t pursue the matter because he knew it would tear the nation apart, and he was still young enough that he might yet get his chance.
Lyndon B. Johnson had successfully stolen a U.S. Senate seat by ballot-stuffing.

Where did I hear that before don’t tell me I’ll get it.
BTTT
Ballot Box 13 started the Johnson machine.
AGREED 100%
So much evil in the world followed from this one bit of fraud.
