A 79-year-old Illinois man is accused of fatally shooting his neighbor, all because the man was using a leaf blower, according to authorities.
Ettore Lacchei was arrested on murder charges Tuesday over the killing of his next-door neighbor William Martys, 59, in the village of Antioch on April 12.
Martys was using a leaf blower in his own yard when he was approached by Lacchei and the pair began arguing.
Lacchei allegedly shot Martys in the head around 7:35 p.m., the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.
When deputies arrived at the home on North Black Oak Avenue, they found Martys bleeding and unresponsive in the driveway. He was rushed to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was pronounced dead.

This had to have been building for a while. Not justified! But there has to be history here.
Zoloft? Prozac? Thorazine? That’s usually the case.
April 12th in Antioch, Illinois? The guy was running his leaf blower after sunset. If he made a habit of that, I could see how his neighbor found it infuriating.
Happens in confined areas where people are bunched up..Animals will attack\trample each other when confined up.
Aside from that Mrs Lincoln, leaf blowers are irritating.
It was 7:30 PM not midnight.
If it was 7:30 AM I could see the frustration but never enough to shoot a man dead.....shesh......that old man needs a psych eval.
Yes, I agree. I bet the guy has been a lazy, inconsiderate neighbor for some time. The old guy probably rakes and bags his leaves, and the dead guy just blows his into everybody else’s yard. The 59-year-old neighbor should have been going over and helping the 79-year-old guy. If people were more considerate other people wouldn’t have such short fuses.
But you have to admit that leaf blowers are annoying especially in the morning
“Zoloft? Prozac? Thorazine? That’s usually the case.”
Sounds like just a mean as a snake grumpy ass old man to me.

Martys’ alleged killer had issues with several neighbors on the street, according to investigators.
“We understand from interviewing witnesses that this neighbor had confrontations with many different neighbors that live up and down that street,” Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Chris Covelli told CBS Chicago. “This wasn’t the first time that he was seen with a firearm.”

Regards,
From the article:
“We understand from interviewing witnesses that this neighbor had confrontations with many different neighbors that live up and down that street,” Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Chris Covelli told CBS Chicago. “This wasn’t the first time that he was seen with a firearm.”
Neighbor JR McCarty told ABC7 Chicago that Lacchei pulled a gun on Martys at least once before.”
Looks like just a mean ass old man that’s going where he deserves to be......to bad it took wasting a life to do it.
well if you’re going to wig out over a noisy garden tool, it would probably work out better in the long run to shoot the garden tool, rather than its operator.
Just because he is old does not mean he is not a violent thug.
i can legally cut my grass at 7am in the summer M-Sa, and i am out early.
I do not care if the potheads up the street stayed up until 4am, i’m not having a heatstroke because of them.
I only do this when it is hot out tho.
“Martys was using a leaf blower in his own yard ”
I bet the sound stayed in his own yard, too.
And, yes, murder isn’t justified.
“Senior agitation’’.
Time to put grandpa on Xanax and let him watch “Matlock’’ reruns.
the dude running a leaf blower after sunset was probably a PITA to his neighbor and doing it on purpose to piss him. off.
the worst people for me to deal with are those who are legally right but morally wrong.
I wonder if his last words were F-Y!. - He f'd around and found out.
No, I dont condone shooting your neighbors willy nilly, but at 79, whats the guy got to lose going to prison for the rest of his short life? he's up for free medical, dental, 3 hots and a cot..
