HOUSTON – A 29-year-old man was out on a date with a woman when police said he shot and killed another man who allegedly scammed him out of money while posing as a parking attendant.
Erick Aguirre has been charged with murder for the shooting death of 46-year-old Elliot Nix.
Prosecutors said Aguirre was already out on probation for aggravated assault in South Texas at the time of the shooting.
His bond has been set at $200,000 during Thursday’s court appearance.

If Nix had been jailed for the ongoing scam (well known to the local waiters) then Aguirre might not have seen red and killed him.
Good job helping a low level offender who turned to crime because of poverty, Houston.
Well... One less scam artist in the world.
Nix was nixed.
I hope this guy’s second date is less eventful.
“I hope this guy’s second date is less eventful.”
She should be happy she was not on a dinner date with Robert Blake.
So, did he Score, or not? //
Looks like an air ball to me.
He shot his wad on the first date….
“If his lawyer fees are under forty bucks, he will come out ahead.”
Lawyers fees are the least of this guy’s worries.
I've been saying that for years: If they can't be trusted to be armed, they shouldn't be running around loose.
One less criminal on the streets, he should’ve been the one in jail. Court will decide if this guy was justified in shooting him.

Seems to me had the Criminal Justice system kept this hot head in jail Nix would be alive... Way to blame the victim.
No he shouldn’t have been scamming people for money, but the shooter’s criminal history sure seems more the type that needs put away for life, over some couple of bucks theft by deception racket.
Agreed.
“Way to blame the victim.”
I think it’s acceptable in this case. He put the quarter in the juke box but didn’t get to pick the song. As for the murderer, string him up.
I was scammed by a fake parking lot attendant decades ago in Downtown Detroit. Didn’t know it at the time tho but it only cost me 5 bucks.
Actually, I’m surprised the media didn’t try to make this into some sort of racial issue considering that it was a white shooter and a black victim.
