Her mother was an India Indian who met a Jamaican on visas and sired Kamala. She is not a Natural Born Citizen, and may not be a US citizen because she did not declare her citizenship when she reached age of majority. She has a choice of India or Jamaica. But not the US. Note her father matriculated and became a US citizen after their divorce.

Miss Harris: Today, in the context of being between yesterday and tomorrow, allows me to focus on ‘the now’, not influenced by misrepresentations of history or visualizations of probable futures. Presently, is ‘the now’ which is important because it’s not the past or the future. That is what I appreciate about what I learned today, but in a way without the past and the future there is no now, so the past, present and future all need to be evaluated at the same time to appreciate what I learned today. If you visualize three partially overlapping circles, one of each representing the past, present and future you can see the overlap in ‘the now’. That’s where the yellow school buses go.
