It’s nice to see Spielberg regrets going the PC route.

I recall hearing that liberal actress Drew Barrymore, who was in ET, was one who encouraged them to delete the guns and install walkie talkies.

Thanks for starting the trend pal. He just figured out they’ll soon be redoing his movies and calling him a cis colonizer.

I'm glad he said "being forced to peer through," because that's exactly what's happening. Americans are being forced to agree with the Left's agenda on literally everything.

“That was a mistake,” Spielberg said. “I never should have done that. ‘E.T.’ is a product of its era. No film should be revised based on the lenses we now are, either voluntarily, or being forced to peer through.” Spielberg is right on this... now we need to tell the powers that be that history shouldn't be rewritten either...

I am surprised he didn’t put MAGA hats on the Nazi guards in Shinlder’s list.

Steven Spielberg claims it was a mi$take yet he made a lot of money on it.
Let's see Steven Spielberg cough up the dough to correct it and fight the censorship the Left is trying to force on the world.

I agree and will expand on it - nothing should be “revised” to meet today’s standards since today’s standards will not be tomorrow’s standards.
I enjoy watching old (1930 - 1940) movies because they show what life was like. Since they were made for contemporary audiences they had to somewhat accurate (at least in the technology of the day, automobiles, clothes and to a degree relationship between people).

I saw a western movie that had a viewer warning at the beginning.
Because it had "cultural appropriations"!

Considering I despite ET and it is far and away the weakest of Schpielburg's films, I would see a Director's Cut where the po-po firearm discharges and dispatches ET in the first 10 minutes.

Oh. Well, I guess my campaign to edit the guns out of Saving Private Ryan isn't going anywhere...

“‘E.T.’ was a film that I was sensitive to the fact that the federal agents were approaching kids with firearms exposed and I thought I would change the guns into walkie talkies… Years went by and I changed my own views,” Spielberg continued. “I should have never messed with the archives of my own work, and I don’t recommend anyone do that. All our movies are a kind of a signpost of where we were when we made them, what the world was like and what the world was receiving when we got those stories out there. So I really regret having that out there.”This is so disingenuous. Amazing that all the Abrahamic religions have some version of taqiyyah, and in so many ways Steven's fake-azz brand profile is perpetually this young naive filmmaker who convinced Universal to build him not one but two fake sharks, when in reality he is just. another. schnorrer.
All the Indiana Jones franchise movies are disqualified under wokeness, but as I have pointed out repeatedly, BLM/ANTIFA po'tests conspicuously avoided Disney theme parks in 2020, and for that matter, any global megaconglomerate theme park or ESG-certified resort entertainment corporation. Things that make you go "Hmmm" unless you're a Freeptard.
Give me the day when Schpielberg and Patrisse Khan-Cullors and the entire BLM/ANTIFA overlords share the same jail cell. My my all the fun. I will laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh and merriment past supper having asserted demonstrable endgame etc etc schadenfreude. Yuge. Bigly.

Completely censor say “To kill a Mockingbird” or something and the new version may leave the audience confused.
Remove any racism and “Hmm just what was that trial all about anyway?”
