San Francisco's ex-fire commissioner has said the city is 'burning' after the District Attorney dropped charges against a vagrant who repeatedly bashed him in the head with a metal crowbar.
Don Carmignani, 53, was left fighting for his life after being brutally attacked on April 12, when he sprayed pepper spray at the homeless man outside his mother's home in the Marina District.
He suffered a fractured skull and jaw in the attack, and required 51 stitches after Garrett Doty, 24, allegedly beat him over the head with a crowbar.
Carmignani - who served as a fire commissioner in 2013 - claims his lawyers informed him that District Attorney Brooke Jenkins has decided not to prosecute Doty because he was acting in 'self-defense'.
According to the injured former fire chief, prosecutors say because he sprayed the homeless man with pepper spray, he instigated the vicious assault.
This is despite chilling footage showing Doty grabbing the crowbar out of the trash and taking practice swings moments before the attack.
Carmignani claims three people 'smoking crack cocaine' leaning up against his mother's door the morning of the attack.
Speaking to CBS News, Carmignani said: 'It's sad. My city is in chaos. They're driving out all the locals and everyone that pays taxes.
'Something needs to change, the city is burning, and now you have the national guard coming in.
'I was just informed by my attorneys prosecuting m for having pepper spray for defense bringing charges against me.

They should try using AI to proofread. People are certainly not doing it anymore. This just drives me nuts.
This is not even a joke?
“ I got a Jury Duty summons and got out lucky never got called up for duty”
This is the problem: juries are made up of people too dumb to get out of jury duty.
The Police make it clear they do not work for the people, the #1 directive is Officer safety #2 is enforcing laws with the governments best interest as priority,
sadly I am not being sarcastic this is 100% true
Austin, Texas is getting about as bad.
I wonder what kind of pepper spray this poor guy used. There’s the watered-down junk you can buy at store check-out lines.
And then there’s the police-grade stuff, available on Amazon. Fox and Sabre are good brands.
As a side note, I went through a bit of pepper spray training decades ago when I worked security for a large university. One blast, and I wasn’t in the mood to swing a crowbar, or attack anyone. I couldn’t even see. I was done.
They weren’t smoking “crack cocaine” they were smoking methamphetamine. I’m not going to call the guy an idiot for that false assumption but it is kind of important to know what you are dealing with. Crack cocaine is very expensive and not that easy to get but meth is practically everywhere in California.
In many cases like that, they won’t respond, or respond slowly, I assume hoping the problem remedies itself because there isn’t anything they can do. Trust me, I’ve been there.
“I would call the police.”
I don’t think the San Francisco police are in much of a hurry to deal with vagrants, or drug users.

Lawless city controlled by criminals
I just got my jury summons yesterday...
I’m with you. It’s just LAZINESS not to preview the post.
See?
New DA to replace the old one and absolutely NOTHING changes.
They’d probably charge the homeowner for allowing vagrancy.
I have said this many times, and I will say it again. By the time the police arrive, they will be measuring you for a toe tag. The police cannot protect you in that kind of situation they arrive after it’s all over with.

“ I just got my jury summons yesterday...”
Haven’t been called in years. I’ll probably get called now that I’m married. The last person they want on a jury in Fulton County GA is a single straight white republican male.
It’s easy to get off jury duty. Just tell them you are a Rush Limbaugh listener, or now, tell them you listen to archived Rush shows daily.
