@RepThomasMassie
Lawmaking from the executive branch is bad for our Republic, regardless of which party undertakes it.
Trump banned bump stocks without an act of congress. Following this exact process, Biden banned pistol braces without an act of congress.

Thats true so what’s to stop either of them from doing the same with semi-autos? Just EO the ATF hoods and voila.
Massive is a fighter. Love the man. He always votes principles first. One of the few!
Trump took the advise from the NRA to have the atf re-evaluate bumpstocks after the las vegas shooting.
It's the atf that does not following the definition of the law to re-classify them.
You should ask why, when 'republicans' controlled the house and senate, why they didn't advance more pro firearm legislation.
It is unconstitutional to create laws by executive order no matter who does it. No point in a legislature if this can happen.
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Obama Administration legalized bump stocks. BAD IDEA. As I promised, today the Department of Justice will issue the rule banning BUMP STOCKS with a mandated comment period. We will BAN all devices that turn legal weapons into illegal machine guns. 4:50 PM · Mar 23, 2018.
Personally as life member for more than 50 years, I kind of doubt that the NRA had anything to do with the ban.
You don’t know what you are talking about. The bump stock ban was done by Trump. Promotion of red flag laws was done by Trump. His record on gun rights, or violations we should say, surpassed Obama.
Oh yeah?
Trump says he is ‘writing out’ bump stocks
“Bump stocks, we are writing that out. I am writing that out,” he said, addressing a group of state governors at the White House. “I don’t care if Congress does it or not, I’m writing it out myself.
Trump also said bump stocks should be put into the same category as certain firearms, making it “tough” to get them.
“You do a rule, have to wait 90 days,” he said. “That’s sort of what’s happening with bump stocks. It’s gone, don’t worry about it. It’s gone, essentially gone, because we are going to make it so tough, you’re not going to be able to get them. Nobody’s going to want them anyway.”
He is stating the truth and I voted for Trump every chance I had.
I guess Trump will loose that huge bump stock voting block again...../sarc
There is a difference. Bump stocks turn a semiautomatic weapon into a fully automatic weapon which is illegal. The bump stock duplicates outside a weapon which that which resides inside a weapon that makes it an automatic weapon. Braces on the other hand do not alter the weapons basic design which makes it a semiautomatic weapon.
But with the way 'republicans' refuse to fight against the socialist/communistic biden admin ignoring the law, and use of e.o.'s , we might as well be in one

Yes and the court slapped it down.
Bullschiff. Bump stocks do not meet the legal definition of a machine gun, not that it matters to F Troop or the tyrants in black robes.
Constitution?
Constitution?
We doon need no Stink’n Constitution.
In a statement, the influential gun rights group's Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox urged the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to review the legality of so-called bump stocks. They stopped short of pushing Congress to pass a bill banning or regulating the devices.
"Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the [ATF] to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law," the NRA officials said.
"The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations."
House Speaker Paul Ryan said Congress should "look into" whether to make changes around bump stocks. Sen. John Cornyn — the No. 2 Republican in the Senate — on Thursday said "it's worth our serious consideration" to ban the tools.
NRA endorses more regulation on bump stocks that boost guns' firing rates
Trump asked for a review. Trump could not disregard the review, and not sign the ATF regulation change and ignore bumpstocks after they reviewed it. - Well, he could have, but then would have been attacked for not following the law and interferring with the atf.
If 'republicans' are to follow the law, the legislature would have passed something to legalize bumpstocks.
