It was in a rural area. They were looking for a friend’s house at night. Regardless being in the wrong driveway or knocking on the wrong door is not a reason to get shot. Similar incident happened in one of the towns I lived in South Carolina.

You take your chances in unfamiliar areas.
Maybe it felt more like a country road and not someone’s driveway..
You take your chances driving down a city road and make a wrong turn into the wrong neighborhood, too.
Not justifying it.
Just explaining that bad things can happen if you make a wrong turn along the way..
