Not sure that is allowed, particularly in CA. Earlier there was a story about people being without a car because of a shortage of replacement converters especially Priuses.

I agree, but I read one story where they did that - and I think it was on a Prius.

They probably did the work on their own car. One mechanic told me it would be hard to find someone to do it because of legal issues. Most people don’t have welders.

A great response to this situation if you can catch them under your rig would be to grab a protruding foot and rotate it about 720 degrees.
Give each a pound of marijuana and a dull paring knife then send them to prison island in the middle of the ocean and set them free.... Nature will prevail...
It cost $2 million to replace them. They probably didn’t get but $50 each for them.

Ship them all back to whatever hellhole spawned them.
