Geothermal, yes. Hydro, not so sure, since the sun won’t be evaporating the oceans nearly as much, then much less refilling of hydro sources going on.

I had ancestors in Ireland at the time but don’t know if any died of starvation, but I had three ancestors elsewhere in Europe who died of starvation in 1817.

If this was the eruption of a supervolcano on an island I would guess that island no longer exists but was blown into the atmosphere and caused the global cooling.

Why not another Late heavy bombardment of meteors and asteroids...only not so big? Or a few Tungusta events?
