It’s mystifying to me why so many Republicans are running against Trump. There is no way any of these has even the slightest chance of getting the nomination, except perhaps DeSantis. Maybe they think this puts them in the fast lane for VP. That might explain Scott or Haley. I don’t think it can explain the rest.

I think they like the prestige of being a presidential candidate.
Or there might be something in the campaign finance laws (that they themselves write) that gives them some kind of advantage/payoff later on.
It’s a free ride for a year and a half, and it’s the only way goofing off for 18 months can look good on a resume.

Free Republic is rife with ad hominem’s from a variety of sources. I filter them regularly, and have been on the receiving end of quite a few myself, but the fact of the matter is I don’t really care what people think and no response probably irks those attackers more than a salty retort or. I think quite a few of them are agent provocateurs, or as some have put it “operatives” of disorder.
