Get this Chinese app out of your smartphone right now (Temu)

It’s no secret: TikTok gathers a ton of data on its users and sends the information straight back to the Chinese government. The app is a threat to your privacy and security even if you don’t have it installed.

TikTok is not the only Chinese app ... A shopping app downloaded by millions of Americans comes with all sorts of sneaky tricks to keep an eye on you.

Have you heard of Temu? People love Temu. It’s the second most popular shopping app right now, only surpassed by the mighty Amazon. Temu must be buying a ton of ad space because we’re seeing it everywhere.

Temu had a quiet launch last September and currently holds a 4.6-star rating on Apple Store and Google Play store.

But Temu is dangerous. Temy bypasses your phone’s security to do the following:

As you shop, Temu quietly bypasses any firewall and gains access to your location and can track you. It gets full access to all your contacts, calendars and photo albums, plus your social media accounts, chats and texts.

In other words, literally everything.

Temu’s tagline — “Shop like a billionaire” — refers to the rock-bottom prices on everything from clothing to home goods to electronics. Just like Amazon, you can find virtually anything here.

Temu says it keeps prices low by cutting out the middleman and allowing Chinese vendors to sell directly to consumers. And that makes sense when you consider this: Though the company is based in the U.S., Temu is owned by PDD Holdings, which is based in China.

You might be able to shop like a billionaire, but you get what you pay for. Play it safe. Stay away from Temu.

I see ads for this app sometimes and the ads are in Chinese. Who would down load an app in Chinese?

Many venues require it now for minor transactions. Can’t get into the San Antonio zoo without such transactions on your cell phone unless you knew about a small hidden machine.

I’ve never put TikTok (or its American cousin, Facebook) on my cell phone.

You are being spied on—and there is no way no know which apps are doing it.

China spying is the least of our problems—DC spying is what we should be focusing on....

Like a lot of the false data around TikTok, I can say this article is full of crap, at least on iPhone.

Temy bypasses your phone’s security to do the following:

Monitor activity on other apps
Track your notifications
Reads private messages
Change settings

None of this is possible unless you explicitly give the app permission, and it does not ask for permission for any of those things. The article is just making stuff up for clicks.

If you are using Android you are screwed 100 different ways...

I do not shop using a Smart Phone, or make any # transactions using it, and thus I cannot even download the app, but with a desktop I have used Temu for cheap things (like this rotating faucet extender spray for $1.18 w/ free ship) vs. another Chinese merchant (since all such come from China).

And thus far more often than not I received $50 off orders that averages under $20: Mar 27 2023

Compensation for late shipment +$5.00

Mar 22 2023 Compensation for late delivery +$5.00

Mar 21 2023 Compensation for late shipment (PO-211-04681700588150815) +$5.00

Yet the shipping is about as fast as Ebay was.

Thank God for good buys and that we can even get such.

No warnings from any virus/malware searches.
But also, Komando would never say anything bad about anything having to do with Apple products. So who knows?

I’m not an Apple fanboy, but if any of this was real, the app would get kicked out of the app store for violating all sort of rules.

True That.

And the intent of the Alphabet agencies are almost the same as the ChiComs. Subjugate, brainwash, enslave the world. And in the case of the USA they try hard to destroy US financially. It is cheaper than by military action. Our bought politicians are throwing gasoline on the fire daily.

Think about this, Slo Joe, the fake president of the USA, is bribed/totally compromised by the ChiCom Government.

Slo Joe tells us the ChiComs are not enemies of the USA.
