“Hofner bass from Paul McCartney”
I picked up a Hofner violin on ebay for $60. We had a garage sale, I put $100 on it, my neighbor was a violin instructor came by and said it was worth $500. I kept it.
He smoked himself to death just like art bell
Yep, me too.
I had never heard of VH....A friend told me I wasn’t gonna believe this guitar and played VH 1st album for for me......at first I had a hard time believing it WAS a guitar making those sounds.
As soon. As it was announced, we bought our tickets to see them as the opening band for of all bands Black Sabbath.
1st tour and VH tore it up......when black Sabbath came on stage we got up and left......you could actually see Rock n Roll changing right there in the arena....the old guard was out.....the new was in.
That was R&R history as far as I’m concerned.....and before david Lee Roth turned into a proper jackass.
Eddie Van Halen was as good as a skateboard.
By Dim logic, shouldn’t the Hot for Teacher song be cancel cultured? Or is it now an anthem for public school teacher/student relationships?
I wonder what Jimmy Page’s number 1 will fetch when he’s gone...
Clapton put a pair of Marshall 4x12 speaker cabinets up for auction a few years back from his stint with Derek & The Dominos. The cabs were a little beat, I’m guessing they got some use before and after the Derek period. However, you could still make out ‘Derek & The Dominos’ stenciled on the back.
The auction house estimated a final price of $6000 for the pair. I was trying to figure out how to bid, but then noticed they had sold for $18,000 for the pair. Too much for me, but for a well off collector, still seemed like a deal.
If I had been able to get them for $6000, I would have put them in the family room and pointed out them out to everyone that came by. The fact they were worn would have added to the appeal, a real pair of road dogs that had been onstage with Clapton back in the day.
Eddie Van Halen put Kramer guitars on the map. That and two hand tapping.
Sucker born every minute.
Saw VH on the 1984 tour at the Cow Palace in May 1984. The Hot for Teacher video wasn’t out yet, but Eddie was playing this guitar (or one with the same graphics). Eddie was amazing. RIP.
