Independent bookstores are free to cater to the demands of their customers. It’s fine to specialize. What is so irritating is the pretentious virtue-signaling done by small leftist bookstores. They claim to be places of light-filled wisdom, diversity and enlightenment. In fact they are politically correct propaganda mills. It’s the smugness that is so grating.

I can personally verity that the Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington D.C. richly deserves his criticism.
“Verity” should be “verify.”
What’s a bookstore?
Who else are you going to get to work in your bookstore? Anyone with any marketable skills is going to be working somewhere else. You run a bookstore, you’re stuck with hiring frustrated English majors and Creative Writing MFAs.
Ever notice the left is all about Yoga, health food, healing arts, retreats, crystals, they are so far into feeling above everyone because they think they are the ‘enlightened’ crowd and yet they are blind as bats.
The whole “New Age” movement.
Romans 1:2
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Romans1:22 not Romans 1:2.🤦♀️
They go around telling everyone how special they are, and then when no one wants to be around them complain about the alienation of modern society.
IME, bookstores have been lefty havens for at least 3 decades. Many writers in multiple genres are more than happy to preach their lefty views through their characters’ dialogue. Reading loses a lot of personal pleasure for me when sorting through such crapola.
It does indeed.
Someone should create an on-line book store with all the books listed as culturally attacked by the left.

#4 I remember when a Barnes Noble bookstore was starting to close down near me during it’s last year. Before you had normal looking people as clerks. By the end it was people with jewelry in their faces and colored hair.
#7 That Bible has sayings that are good any century you are in. People stay the same. Just the technology changes.
P and P was formed by an avowed MARXIST, Andy ??. The media leaves this out of their stories.
I noticed that fifty years ago the book stores had an isle of “occult” books.
Then the changed it to “New Age” isle.
Now it has again changed to something different like “Personal Improvement”.(can’t remember the actual name)
Still the same old horoscope and utter nonsense witchcraft books.
Those guys who wrote that sure were smart. heh
P
A local lady opened a bookstore specializing in fantasy. She labeled it a safe space for teens(IOW LGBT). There just weren’t that many people into that genre. When it closed, she blamed it on being a safe space which most people didn’t even know. One of those businesses that you know is going to close when it opens.
Meanwhile, the Christian Mission is doing a booming business on books at their thrift store.
