Great movie.
Timing of this post is funny. I'm watching 1973's “The Night Strangler” with Darren McGavin, and Simon Oakland while I'm working remote from home. :)

Times were so innocent back then...sigh

You’re not alone. I saw this when I was about nine — watched the New Years Day parade on our 19” color (!) TV, and this was followed by ‘Creature Feature’, iirc. Well, the feature was The Blob, and it gave me the heebie-jeebies for a good long while. The thought of some amorphous glob that could slide under the door and wasn’t effected by normal weaponry was terrifying!

The Night Stalker? Great movie for it’s time. I remember watching it as a Movie of The Week back in 72.

I saw this movie when it first came out in 1958. Scared the heck out me, especially end when the blob came into the theater (on screen).

ahhh yes...one of the all time greats!!...in a scene where Steve is talking to Jane, you can see the cigarette smoke of the Director wafting thru the air. Also, when the crowd is running out of the theater because of the Blob, look for a sound man kneeling down behind the ticket booth...i love the 1950’s sci-fi’s!..i collected em all on DVD.

I can't remember which came first, but The Blob and Tarantula were the "first" scary movies I watched . . .
Tarantula starred Leo G Carrol as a mad scientist playing around with spider venom (IIRC)

Before he was going to do his remake of Halloween, Rob Zombie was going to do a remake of The Blob. Sam Jackson was going to be in it.

Don’t forget that when the one hundred foot tarantula was about to stomp into the town and start killing everything....
Clint Eastwood showed up in a fighter jet and napalmed the sucker.

It took Clint Eastwood and a lot of napalm to take down the Tarantula!

Beware of The Blob, it creeps
And leaps and glides and slides
Across the floor
Right through the door
And all around the wall
A splotch, a blotch
Be careful of The Blob
