Rep. Thomas Massie has come out of against Donald Trump
twitter ^ | April 3 | Rep. Massie

@RepThomasMassie

Trump endorsed swamp creature Paul Ryan for Speaker, which turned out to be a huge mistake. No Wall, No Obamacare repeal, No pro-2A. I was the only member of the GOP to vote against Paul Ryan, but there was no chance to defeat him once Trump endorsed him.

In a separate Twitter post, he praised Ron DeSantis for "getting it right" on COVID even though DeSantis himself imposed lockdowns and restrictions that were as bad (or even worse) than anything we saw from Nazi governors in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, California, etc.

You continue to spout this LIE.

DeSantis rewrote lockdown procedures within 3 weeks of Covid starting and quickly exempted churches from lockdowns after some locals arrested a pastor. DeSantis constantly changed as Covid unfolded which resulted in DeSantis opening up Florida early.

Meanwhile, Trump stood by Fauci and did not speak out against the failed masking, lockdowns, distancing and suppression of liberty. He just let everything happen until election day.

Pretty sure all of those things were voted on in the House. Ryan was also already Speaker prior to Trump's arrival on the scene.

The "principled" Massie is engaging in political speak. Probably smarting from Trump getting mad at him for gumming up the works just to grandstand a few years ago.

A commenter points out to him that Paul Ryan supports DeSantis.

Trump tried and learned the lesson that there is no working with the uniparty RINOs.

DeSantis has yet to learn that lesson.

Massie is one of the good guys said spending two trillion dollars on COVID was wrong and the massive inflation since proves his point in opposing the spending.

Probably not if that had been the only bill. There were multiple massive spending bills of this - $2 trillion was just the tip of the iceberg. "Build Back Better" was the tipping point.

Trump was a neophyte and trusted his party’s leaders in the house and senate to help him get things done.

Everybody who isn’t Trump is a swamp creature! Why didn’t Trump throw him and everybody else out of the Republican Party when he had the chance. If you’re going to lose, why lose by 4 points? Think BIG!!

Yes,that was the huge problem...DJT,as an amateur, didn’t fully understand how DC worked. As a result he made some bad appointments and trusted some bad people.

There were plenty of stories that came out speculating Massie would support DeSantis at the end of March. So, if he does, can anyone ever top that for irony?

Yeah, that's not painting a factual picture. He adjusted policies as the pandemic progressed and as more was known. The pandemic also ended there more quickly as he was much more successful and aggressive at having both vaccines and treatments available.

DeSantis quickly exempted …..

Many things were ‘slowed down’ without lockdowns. You could still go to nearly any store, for anything needed. You could buy tools at a hardware store, food at a grocery or carryout from restaurants , get a haircut, after initial panic that was caused by fear porn.

It seems like DeSantis trusted Trump/Fauci until the evidence showed otherwise.

Then DeSantis charted his own direction, loosening and lifting the lockdowns and eliminating the vaccine mandates.

DeSantis even changed the state’s medical leader to a less political doctor.

Sounds like a guy who learns and adapts.

I wish we had 49 more Ron DeSantis governors in this country.

Either that or he was giving them the opportunity to expose what posers they really are.

I have been only a Republican supporter, my entire life. I had always assumed that they were just weaklings who lacked any backbone. But when I saw how they lost their collective minds when Donald John Trump won the 2016 election, and how they stood in his way just as much as the Democrats, it was an eyeopener epiphany that I had been played like a useful idiot who makes excuse, rather than sees the reality.

If he had gone for others outside the GOPe, like he did with Bannon, he would have accomplished nothing, but worse yet we would have all turned sour on DJT.

Now, I'm not saying that Trump was playing 3-D chess or anything, but I think he knew more about the GOPe than most supporters even knew about them.

Either way, by pure accident or by intelligent design, he did in fact expose them for the crooked frauds they are.

So, you can be critical, or you can see beyond the short-comings, to the realization that the game had been exposed by DJT, and that every American was being taken advantage of by a cabal of crooks whose only motivations were to rape this nation of everything they could.

Wake up & see what DJT has really accomplished. Because until we learned the truth, we were doomed to plat the useful idiots.

Wake up people.

If you are a Rand fan, why are you always promoting leftism. You want to ban guns and support Obama care, because of the “bigger picture.” How come this bigger picture never leads anywhere? Why don’t you change your name to McCain fan or PaulRyanFan?

How cone the bigger picture is supporting leftism, and people like you never get around to supporting actual conservatism?

“Trump tried and learned the lesson that there is no working with the uniparty RINOs.”

I don’t think that’s true. He’s still endorsing RINOs and establishment hacks over conservative candidates. His latest being Ronna Romney McDaniel.

No one is perfect, even the best of the best on our side. That doesn’t surprise me or bother me.

What bothers me is how easy it is to start fights and promote these alleged rivalries between conservatives leaders.

I think is because conservatives tend to be idealists. They are searching for truth and purity, so it’s easy to push their buttons by pointing out imperfections.

So we firm a circular firing squad and start picking each other off. Meanwhile, the enemy is over there safely on the sidelines laughing,

It shouldn’t be this easy for the Left to manipulate us.

No he didn’t. By June 2917, Republicans dropped all pretense of being against ACA, at Trump’s behest. Trump has been on record as being for socialized medicine since 2000.

What he posted is unquestionably true, but I wonder what the broader context was that prompted him to do so and do so now.
