For the past half-century, nearly every year since 1973, around Easter and Passover ABC has rebroadcast Cecil B. DeMille’s Oscar-winning 1956 epic The Ten Commandments, which draws its story from the Old Testament book of Exodus about Moses’ (Charlton Heston) deliverance of the Israelites from slavery at the hands of Egyptian pharaoh Rameses II (Yul Brynner)

It is a great movie. Not only in it’s theme but in the cinematography, the color, the costuming and acting are superb.

In case no one realized, it’s not at all about Jesus, and if anything, it is somewhat about Passover.

BEN-HUR is the “Easter” movie.

Great movie, sure, but this is a major pet peeve of mine for ages. Why doesn’t Ben-Hur get this respect of being the “Easter event”? It is a better quality movie, too. (Most Oscars ever won, to wit.)

Hello rlmorel. This is a wonderful film. beautifully filmed, costumed and acted. Not to be salacious but the scene where actress Nina Foch finds Moses in the basket well... all I can say is ''hubba hubba! Those are some very beautiful young ladies.

I'm certain it has been digitally remastered, into high definition video. Very crisp in detail and coloration. Every scene is like an oil painting - if the bible were to have come with illustrations amongst its pages, it would be like that.

Yes I’m sure it has been remastered. You’re right though it does have the vibrant quality of an oil painting.

In the original print that was altered before it was released while Heston was crossing the desert to Egyptian MIG 15s could be seen in the distance.
