Alec Baldwin's 'Rust' assistant director sentenced in fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins

"Rust" assistant director Dave Halls was sentenced Friday after pleading no contest.

Halls entered a plea of no contest to the misdemeanor charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer accepted the plea. The prosecution requested a suspended sentence, which is a conviction.

Halls' attorney argued his sentence should be deferred. Lisa Torraco explained that Halls did not have control over how individual people handled safety on the set.

Baldwin had the gun. Baldwin fired the gun. Baldwin pulled all the strings on set and movie despite the titles anyone else had.

Baldwin is revolting to me, but he’s not responsible for putting live rounds in the gun. He is responsible for pointing a gun at an actual person and horsing around with it, resulting in a woman’s death. I doubt he is a “gun person”; probably never occurred to him to check for real ammo. So, how did live rounds get in the gun in the first place? Whoever did that is the most responsible, IMHO.

A MISDEMEANOR charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon! By comparison, the guy in the funny hat on J6 was convicted of FELONY trespassing. Trespassing! Then, after being held for about 9 months before his "trial", he was sentenced to 42 months in prison. For trespassing! (They did let him out the other day.)

Also by comparison, the Portland woman who threw a Molotov Cocktail into a police SUV with 5 officers inside was sentenced to 33 ... wait for it .... HOURS of community service!

Wasn’t the armorer absent from the set at the time that the gun was handed to Baldwin ? I recall maybe the asst director or some such handing it off and saying “cold gun”.
